"Could it be that I've been discovered... or perhaps it sensed my presence and is trying to force me out?" Qian Mo was crouched in a thicket, engaged in a fierce internal struggle. However, he soon realized that he was overthinking the situation. Bai Ze was not talking to him at all.
Just as Bai Ze finished speaking, a cloud of dust rose, followed by the sound of boulders rolling. Qian Mo was horrified to see that just under a hundred meters away from the Soulgrass patch, a massive creature was stretching its body without restraint.
"Isn't that just a small hill..." Qian Mo fell into a brief state of confusion, accompanied by a small internal monologue. Considering the peak that reached into the sky, it could indeed be called a hill at several dozen meters high. But that was solidly dozens of meters! The most critical part was that it was coiled up! Damn it, he had completely failed to notice that what could be said to be right under his nose was actually a transformed beast! As the sound of rolling stones gradually ceased and the dust began to settle, a massive figure finally came into clear view for Qian Mo.
It was a Long Worm... a very large Long Worm...
The Long Worm, resembling a snake, measured over a hundred meters in length and nearly five meters in girth. Its body was covered in black scales, with a deep yellow belly and a green head. In contrast to Bai Ze's ethereal beauty and radiant form, this giant snake exuded an aura of ferocity. Its powerful physique left no doubt about the strength hidden within, capable of crushing mountains. Each scale was the size of a child and shimmered with a cold, steel-like luster. Its slightly lifted jaw revealed elongated fangs dripping with venom that emitted a strong fishy odor. The hissing sound of the snake seemed like a death knell, causing anxiety and headaches for Qian Mo, who quickly cast a calming spell on himself to feel somewhat better.
To put it bluntly, it resembled a killing machine; if thrown into the present day, it could provide Hollywood's sci-fi directors with endless inspiration for their lives. Of course, that would only hold true if they survived after encountering this Long Worm...
"Is this... the Xiu (Ba) Snake?"
Connecting what he knew about primeval beasts, Qian Mo still felt uncertain...
The Xiu (Ba) Snake had been recorded in "Shan Hai Jing." In the southwest lies Ba Country and Zhu Juan Kingdom, home to black snakes with green heads that eat elephants. Guo Pu noted: "The Ba Snake also eats elephants; after three years, its bones are produced. A gentleman wears it without any internal ailments." The snake can be black, yellow, red, or black with a green head found west of rhinoceroses.
From historical records alone, one could infer how large a giant snake capable of swallowing elephants would be.
However... over a hundred meters long? That's excessive! Did the beasts of the Primordial Era grow by consuming golden fertilizer?
"Cloud Sky Mountain is named Buzhou; there is a giant snake here called Xiu (Ba)! I have long heard of the fearsome reputation of Elder Bamon; seeing it today truly lives up to its name."
Bai Ze's limbs slightly curled as if expressing respect for the giant snake before him.
"It has been too long... since I awakened. My speech is somewhat... unsteady. Young one from the Bai Ze Clan, I see your pure-colored horn atop your head; you must hold some status. Knowing my fearsome name, why do you disturb my peaceful slumber?"
The dark red eyes of the snake fixed intently on Bai Ze as its several-meter-long crimson tongue flicked in and out; its mouth slightly opened to speak human words!
