I learned from Zhang Yun that Shen Yulin signed up for high jump, 1000-meter long-distance running, and basketball. I secretly felt anxious for him; the 1000-meter run is no joke, and being able to finish it is impressive, let alone coming in first. I was worried and wanted to suggest he switch events, but I felt that with our relationship, I had no right to interfere in his matters.
During this time, I hadn't gotten close to him, and that girl named Lu Pingping seemed to come looking for him almost every day. That ridiculous relationship of being called "sister" must have been easily broken.
After the class meeting, I ran into Lu Pingping at the corner of the stairs. She called out to me, "Yue Fanxing!"
I stopped and looked at her suspiciously, saying, "Did you call me?"
"Yue Fanxing, hello! I'm Lu Pingping, Shen Yulin's sister." She said as she extended her slender right hand.
"Hello." I shook hands with her. "Do you need something?" I asked again suspiciously.
"Fanxing, you're really beautiful! I often hear my brother mention you." She said while brushing her hair back. "My brother says you're super nice and very cute. Can we be friends?"
I looked at her calmly, thinking about what Shen Yulin said about "sister," which made me feel suffocated, but I still tried to control myself and said, "I'm also his sister; it's only natural for us to take care of each other."
"Sister?" Lu Pingping looked at me in confusion. "That's impossible; there are no girls in my grandparents' generation. On my maternal side, I'm the only girl."
Hearing this left me stunned; it turned out Lu Pingping really was his sister, a biological sister.
"So what have I been all this time..." I murmured to myself, feeling suddenly enlightened. I immediately wanted to see him—especially wanted to see him.
I turned around and ran back to the classroom, not forgetting to shout back at Lu Pingping behind me, "Pingping, from now on we are friends!" Without looking back, I left Lu Pingping standing there in a daze.
I reached the classroom door and took a few deep breaths to calm myself before pushing the door open. Today was his duty day; he was the only one left in the classroom closing the windows. The sound of the door opening startled him; he turned around and froze when he saw me.
Without hesitation, I ran towards him and hugged him tightly.
"Shen Yulin, I'm sorry," I said with a slightly trembling voice.
Shen Yulin hugged me back, one hand gripping my chin as he kissed me fiercely, stealing my breath away. After two months of being so close yet so far apart had drained me emotionally; it dawned on me that everything was just my over-sensitivity causing unnecessary worries. He was still him; Shen Yulin was still Shen Yulin.
When my legs grew weak and I could barely hold on any longer from the kiss, I gently pushed him away. He released me reluctantly while tenderly stroking my lips. "Xingxing, why have you been avoiding me? I've missed you so much."
Hearing this made me cry; tears flowed uncontrollably down my face as Shen Yulin kissed away my tears and kept comforting me.
"Don't cry, Xingxing, don't cry."
After a while, I finally calmed down enough to stammer out, "Lu Pingping really is your sister..."
Only then did Shen Yulin realize that my awkwardness for two months was because of Lu Pingping. He chuckled softly; I shot him an annoyed glance before turning away from him. "Xingxing, why didn't you just ask me directly? Instead of thinking foolishly all by yourself."
"I was too angry at the time and didn't want to talk to you," I mumbled in response.
Then we exchanged smiles, and this matter was finally put behind us.
