I don't know how long it has been, but when I woke up and opened my eyes, I was still in this room. Outside, it was eerily quiet, as if there was no one around. I felt both hungry and sleepy, my head heavy and foggy. Thoughts of my father, my aunt, and Shen Yulin kept swirling in my mind. Shen Yulin, I miss you so much. Why haven't you come to find me yet? As I thought about it, I couldn't help but cry.
Mom, I'm so scared. Xingxing is so scared.
"What! You found the surveillance footage? Where is it headed? Okay, I understand. Please have a few colleagues help look for her; I'm going over now," Uncle said as he hung up the phone. "Xiao Fan has found her; she was taken away by a van in Chengxia Village. The police located the van's surveillance footage; it turned into Chengxia Village."
"Let's go." My father threw down his cigarette butt, and the four of us—my father, Aunt Shen Yulin, Uncle, and I—got into the car heading toward Chengxia Village.
By the time we arrived at Chengxia Village, it was already midnight. The village was quiet, with only a few households still showing faint lights. My father and the police parked the car at the village entrance and began searching house by house.
I sat quietly alone in the room when suddenly I heard footsteps outside the door. I looked warily at the door as it creaked open. A limping man hobbled in, carrying a tray of food. Startled, I shrank back into the bed. The man placed the tray on the round table and walked over to my bedside, grabbing me roughly and untying my hands behind my back. Instinctively, I tried to struggle, but he pulled out a knife from behind his back and threatened me fiercely: "If you struggle again, I'll make you regret it!" I stopped moving altogether.
He then took out a pair of handcuffs and cuffed my hands together. "Alright, it's time to eat," he said before turning to leave.
Confused, I thought to myself: "What exactly did they bring me here for?" Just then, a delicious aroma wafted through the air, and my stomach grumbled uncontrollably. Looking at the table, I saw a bowl of rice, a plate of vegetables, and some braised pork. Unable to resist my hunger any longer, I devoured the food ravenously. After finishing, I wiped my mouth but suddenly heard voices outside the door. I tiptoed quietly to hide behind the door and overheard a woman say: "Keep an eye on things; clean up later; the boss wants to inspect the goods." A man replied: "Understood."
It was clear that the man was the same one who had brought me food earlier, but who was that woman? What did they mean by inspecting goods? After they finished talking, it seemed they left.
I don't know how much time passed before noise came from outside again. Instinctively, I climbed onto the bed and hid in the corner. I heard doors opening in several rooms nearby; it seemed like several people were walking around. Suddenly, with a loud creak, three men entered my room. Terrified, I shrank back until my back pressed against the wall with nowhere else to retreat. Two of them approached me and grabbed me by either side, pulling me forward as I screamed: "Who are you! Where are you taking me? Waaaah..."
Before I could finish speaking, one of the men at the door shoved a cloth into my mouth. As they dragged me toward the door, I caught sight of a silver-gray van outside with several girls inside who looked older than me. My eyes widened in shock.
This is human trafficking! What should I do? Where are they taking us?
The two men holding onto me continued to push me forward as I struggled against them. Seeing that I was fighting back fiercely, they lifted me off the ground—one on each side—and despite my desperate shaking, they carried me into the van. The door slammed shut with a heavy thud that echoed in my heart as despair washed over me; I closed my eyes tightly.
"Don't move! Everyone raise your hands!"
Hearing this command made me open my eyes immediately; several flashlights flickered in front of the van as shadows moved around—I couldn't see who had suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle.
Someone approached us and with a loud bang, opened the van door.
"Xingxing!"
