Wang Xue sat on the sofa, tightly gripping her phone, her eyes filled with confusion and unease. She had noticed Li Chen's recent behavioral changes—frequent overtime, his phone always clutched in his hand, and even becoming silent in front of her. Her intuition told her that Li Chen was hiding something. 0

"Li Chen, what's going on with you lately?" Wang Xue finally couldn't hold back and asked, her voice tinged with anxiety. 0

Li Chen was sitting at the dining table, focused on organizing his photography equipment. Upon hearing Wang Xue's words, he frowned slightly but didn't respond immediately. Seeing this, Wang Xue felt a tightening in her chest and continued, "We haven't had a proper conversation in days. You're always so busy; are you hiding something from me?" 0

"No!" Li Chen's tone suddenly became very agitated as he looked up, his gaze sharp as a blade directed at Wang Xue. "I'm just focused on work; why do you always have to doubt me?" 0

Wang Xue was taken aback by Li Chen's reaction, feeling a wave of disappointment and grievance wash over her. "I'm not doubting you; I'm just concerned about you. I saw your photos with that mysterious person on social media, and it made me uneasy." 0

"So what? I'm taking pictures for work; can't you support me?" Li Chen's voice rose, his emotions seemingly spiraling out of control. Wang Xue had never seen him so agitated, and a chill ran through her. 0

"You make me feel like a stranger, Li Chen." Wang Xue's voice trembled slightly, tears welling in her eyes as she fought to keep them from falling. "I thought we were the most trusted people in each other's lives, but now I'm starting to doubt whether I really know you." 0

Li Chen's heart jolted; his anger was instantly replaced by a wave of helplessness and pain. He lowered his head and fell silent. On the sofa, Wang Xue appeared incredibly lonely; in that moment, the distance between her and Li Chen seemed insurmountable. 0

"If you want to know something, I can tell you," Li Chen finally spoke softly, but there was no warmth in his tone. "I'm just working on some projects to improve my photography skills." 0

"But why didn't you tell me?" Wang Xue questioned, her unease intensifying. "You could have shared this with me but chose to hide it; it feels like you're avoiding me." 0

Li Chen remained silent, torn inside. He knew he wasn't avoiding her; it was the appearance of that mysterious person that left him feeling lost. He didn't want Wang Xue to get caught up in this complicated situation. Thus, he chose to keep his distance, but all of this inadvertently opened a rift between them. 0

"Maybe you're right; I need some time," Li Chen finally said before turning to walk toward his room. He didn't want to continue this topic; he felt exhausted and bitter. 0

Back in his room, Li Chen sat at the desk and wearily pressed his temples. He decided to review the photos he had taken, trying to find more clues within them. As he opened the camera and flipped through those once-proud works, his heart grew heavier. 0

With each photo he reviewed, the figure of that mysterious person appeared more frequently in his lens. Each time he tried to capture the fleeting moment's essence, it now seemed that those beautiful moments concealed some unsettling omen. 0

Li Chen's hands trembled involuntarily as he zoomed in on one photo. It was a shot of the city at night where a blurry figure could be faintly seen in the corner. Li Chen clearly remembered not noticing this person at the time; he had been focused on the interplay of light and shadow. But now, in that photo, the figure's gaze seemed to be watching him as if monitoring his every move. 0

"What is going on?" Li Chen muttered to himself anxiously. He recalled Xiao Yu's suggestion and decided to give her a call. 0

Once the call connected, Xiao Yu's voice came through quickly. "Hello, Li Chen, any new discoveries?" 0

"I feel like things are getting more complicated." 0
