As the investigation deepened, Li Chen and Xiao Yu discovered that the mysterious person's real name was Lu Zhou. One evening, while chatting in a café, Li Chen suddenly said, "I think Lu Zhou might be using an extreme method to reveal the pathology of society." He looked into Xiao Yu's eyes, trying to read something from her expression.

On the day of the Art Exhibition, neon lights flickered as the city's hustle and bustle intertwined with the tranquility of art. Li Chen wandered through the exhibition hall, admiring one piece after another, yet his mind remained unsettled. He searched for Lu Zhou's figure, constantly recalling various pieces of information about him.
"Li Chen!" Xiao Yu suddenly appeared behind him, interrupting his thoughts. "Are you ready?"
Li Chen nodded, a mix of tension and anticipation swirling within him. They found a small table in a corner of the exhibition hall where a tall man with a stern expression sat—Lu Zhou. His gaze conveyed profound wisdom but also an air of unapproachability.
"Hello, I am Lu Zhou," he said with a slight smile, his voice deep and magnetic. "I hear you are interested in my research?"
Li Chen and Xiao Yu exchanged glances before Li Chen spoke up. "Yes, we are very interested in your research, especially regarding the missing volunteers."
Lu Zhou's expression turned serious as he nodded slightly, seemingly contemplating how to respond. "The missing volunteers were unavoidable sacrifices in my experiments." His voice was low and tinged with resignation. "The depths of human psychology hide many secrets; exploring these secrets sometimes comes at an unbearable cost."
Li Chen and Xiao Yu exchanged another glance filled with confusion and unease. They understood that Lu Zhou was revealing a more complex and darker truth in his own way—a truth that might change their perception of everything.
"But is such a cost really worth it?" Xiao Yu asked firmly.
Lu Zhou smiled faintly, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes. "The path to uncovering the truth is often filled with pain and loneliness. If you wish to understand me, you may also need to face such costs."
Li Chen felt a weight settle in his heart; this conversation brought an unprecedented sense of oppression. He realized he was treading on dangerous ground but could not retreat because he knew that only by delving deeper could he find the true whereabouts of the missing individuals.
"Perhaps we can collaborate," Li Chen summoned his courage to bridge the gap between them. "We hope to learn more and even help you."
A glimmer of surprise crossed Lu Zhou's eyes before they became deep and contemplative again. He nodded slightly as if considering Li Chen's proposal. The air was thick with tension; Li Chen's heart raced as he sensed an impending revelation.
"Do you really want to know the truth?" Lu Zhou's voice was low and powerful, as if testing their resolve.
"Yes," Xiao Yu replied firmly. "We are willing to face anything."
Lu Zhou remained silent for a moment before finally smiling slightly as if moved by their courage. "Very well; I will take you into this fog-laden world. But remember, once you step in, there will be no turning back."
