The next few days at work went smoothly. Shen Yulin did not show up, and neither did Lu Yi. It wasn't until Friday, after a meeting with my colleagues, that I learned Lu Yi had been assigned to go on a business trip with Director Shen the day after I started work, and it was unknown when he would return. I sighed; it had finally been quiet for several days.
While I was busy entering a document, my phone rang. It was a call from Zhang Yun. I answered, "Hello?" "Xingxing, want to have dinner together tonight?" I thought for a moment and realized I had no plans for the evening, so I agreed. "I'll pick you up after work, babe~ Wait for me!" After hanging up, I hurried to finish my tasks.
After work, I stood at the entrance of Chengxing Group when a red Mercedes slowly pulled up in front of me. The window rolled down to reveal Zhang Yun's exquisite face. I got into the car and asked, "When did you get a new car?" "Babe, this was a gift from Haifeng last week." "This color is so eye-catching!" Zhang Yun smiled proudly. "Buckle up!" With that, she pressed the gas pedal, and the car sped off toward the restaurant.
We chatted and laughed along the way, creating an exceptionally pleasant atmosphere. Before we knew it, we arrived at the restaurant. Zhang Yun chose a window seat and ordered some dishes before we began to catch up on each other's recent happenings.
"I really don't understand what your Third Master is thinking! He suddenly called Haifeng late at night and sent him on a business trip. I've been so bored these past few days!" Zhang Yun mumbled with her mouth full.
"That's not my family's Third Master; don't put labels on him!" I rolled my eyes and replied irritably.
"I..." Zhang Yun was about to retort when she suddenly froze mid-sentence. She was staring intently out the window, her expression gradually shifting to something unsettling. Curious, I followed her gaze and was stunned to see Lu Yi, Cheng Haifeng, and Shen Yulin standing by the street corner!
The three of them seemed to be discussing something. Shen Yulin looked serious while Cheng Haifeng nodded in agreement from time to time, and Lu Yi stood quietly beside them, his eyes revealing a hint of worry.
Shen Yulin stood still in place; his well-tailored suit seemed custom-made for him, perfectly outlining his tall figure while exuding an inexplicable charm. I couldn't help but gaze at him; as I took in his sculpted features and deep, captivating eyes, my heart raced uncontrollably, and my cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
At that moment, it seemed he sensed my gaze; his eyes shifted from looking straight ahead to our direction. Caught off guard, our eyes met unexpectedly, and for an instant, time seemed to freeze. Panicking, I wanted to look away but felt as if I were under a spell and couldn't move; all I could do was stare into his enchanting eyes.
Finally snapping back to reality, I hurriedly turned my head away, too afraid to look again. Inside, I silently prayed he hadn't noticed my flustered state while feeling somewhat annoyed at how easily I blushed. However, despite my efforts to calm down, that fleeting glance lingered in my mind like an unshakeable memory.
"Hey, Xingxing. They saw us," Zhang Yun said excitedly as she waved out the window.
The three men leisurely walked into the restaurant. Since Zhang Yun and I were sitting at a two-person table, they took a four-person table next to us. Cheng Haifeng spoke first: "What are you two doing here for dinner?" Zhang Yun shot him an annoyed glare: "You come back without notifying us and still dare to question us?"
Cheng Haifeng rubbed his nose awkwardly as I chimed in: "Have you eaten?" Lu Yi smiled and replied: "Not yet; we just got off the plane."
