The wedding car slowly drove into the community at 4:30 in the morning. Zhang Yun was already sitting on the bed in her bedroom, waiting for the groom's arrival.
Soon, the doorbell rang. Cheng Haifeng, dressed in a sharp suit and beaming with joy, arrived with his groomsmen to pick up his bride. He felt both excited and nervous, holding a bouquet of flowers, eager to see the beautiful Zhang Yun. The groomsmen, also in suits, surrounded the groom, chatting and joking with him to boost his spirits.
I did not open the door immediately; instead, I watched as Zhang Yun's sisters demanded that the groom give them red envelopes before they would let him in. After Shen Yulin slipped several red envelopes through the crack of the door, I opened it wide. Cheng Haifeng and his entourage entered with great enthusiasm, filling the room with laughter and lively chatter. Zhang Yun's friends and family wore radiant smiles filled with happiness. Cheng Haifeng slowly approached Zhang Yun, knelt on one knee, presented her with the flowers, and professed his love with heartfelt vows. Zhang Yun was moved to tears as she accepted the flowers and embraced her groom tightly. In that moment, their eyes met, filled with love and commitment.
Amidst the blessings from friends and family, they held hands and stepped out of the room to embark on their new journey of happiness. The groomsmen surrounded them, laughing and celebrating as they wished the newlyweds well. The entire process of picking up the bride was filled with joy and warmth. I quietly stood in a corner, silently observing the lively scene before me. The people around me were noisy and playful, but I felt as if I were an outsider looking in. Shen Yulin was also among this group; his gaze occasionally lingered on me as if he had countless words to express. However, I chose to ignore him and focused all my attention on the newlyweds.
As I followed Zhang Yun toward the wedding car, "Xingxing, sit over here," Shen Yulin elegantly opened the car door like a charming gentleman. However, I chose not to get in but instead turned toward Cheng Haifeng's brother's car. Sitting in Cheng Haifeng's brother's vehicle, I looked through the window and saw Shen Yulin's cold face ahead; it appeared so gloomy that it seemed like it could drip water, sending chills down my spine.
In the afternoon, I stretched lazily and decided to take advantage of this break to relax a bit. So after saying goodbye to Zhang Yun and Cheng Haifeng, I headed toward another lounge in the hotel.
Once inside the lounge, I casually took off my top and pants before stepping into the bathroom for a shower. Water poured down from the showerhead onto my body, bringing a refreshing sensation that felt incredibly comfortable. Just then, I heard a soft sound of a door opening; although it was quiet, it stood out in the stillness of the environment. A hint of suspicion arose within me as I paused my actions and cautiously looked toward the door.
However, before I could react, the bathroom door suddenly swung open, and a shadow rushed in. The unexpected turn of events startled me greatly; my heart raced instantly. At that moment, the lights went out abruptly, plunging the entire room into darkness. In a panic, I tried to scream but found my mouth covered tightly by a hand, unable to make any sound. Then a familiar scent of vanilla filled my nostrils, causing my body to tremble involuntarily.
In this eerie yet tense atmosphere, that figure held me tightly. I could feel their warmth and breath; the scent of vanilla grew stronger. "Xingxing."
It was Shen Yulin.
