Wang Ming and Zhao Can stood in the hospital corridor.
Zhao Can looked at him, her eyes flickering slightly. "Wang Ming, you really can't accompany me?"
Wang Ming's expression remained indifferent. "I can't."
"Why?" Zhao Can asked, confused. "It's just going out for a meal; it won't take up too much of your time."
Wang Ming's demeanor was still cold. "I don't have time."
Zhao Can frowned slightly. "But..."
"Miss Zhao," Wang Ming looked at her with a frosty expression, "I am a doctor, not your personal bodyguard."
Zhao Can's face turned pale. "You..."
"If there's nothing else, I need to get back to work," Wang Ming said before turning to leave.
"Wang Ming!" Zhao Can suddenly called out to him.
Wang Ming stopped and turned to look at her.
Zhao Can stared at him, her eyes glimmering slightly. "Why are you so cold to me?"
Wang Ming paused before replying, "I'm like this with everyone."
Zhao Can pressed her lips together. "What about Jiang Yuan?"
Wang Ming looked at her but remained silent.
Zhao Can spoke with a hint of grievance, "You are very gentle with Jiang Yuan."
Wang Ming's eyes flickered but he still did not speak.
Zhao Can took a step closer. "Wang Ming, don't you think you're too good to Jiang Yuan?"
Wang Ming coughed lightly and replied, "She is my sister."
"I am also your sister."
"I am not your brother," Wang Ming said coldly. "If Miss Zhao wants someone to accompany her, it would be better to find Feng Hongyang."
With that, he turned to leave.
"Wang Ming!" Zhao Can called out to him again.
Wang Ming stopped once more and turned back to look at her.
Zhao Can fixed her gaze on him, her eyes slightly red. "You know very well what my relationship with Feng Hongyang is; why do you treat me like this?"
Wang Ming paused before responding, "I don't know."
Zhao Can incredulously said, "You don't know?"
Wang Ming's expression was indifferent. "I don't know what happened between you."
Zhao Can's eyes turned redder. "Wang Ming, you..."
"Miss Zhao," Wang Ming looked at her with a calm demeanor, "if you really want someone to accompany you, you can find your friends or family. Don't come looking for me again."
After saying that, he turned and left.
"Wang Ming!" Zhao Can called out to him again.
Wang Ming did not turn back.
Zhao Can stared at his back, her eyes red. "Wang Ming, I hate you!"
Wang Ming paused for a moment but did not look back as he walked away quickly.
...
I had been watching from the side until Wang Ming came in front of me.
I looked at him and smiled, "Dr. Wang, long time no see."
Wang Ming looked at me with an indifferent expression. "What are you doing here?"
I blinked. "I'm here to find you."
Wang Ming paused and asked, "What do you want with me?"
"I have a friend..."
"Jiang Yuan!" Zhao Can suddenly rushed over and grabbed Wang Ming's arm. "Let's go!"
Wang Ming was pulled two steps away before he suddenly stopped.
Zhao Can paused and turned to look at him.
Wang Ming looked at her with a cold expression. "Let go."
Zhao Can's eyes turned red. "Wang Ming, you..."
Wang Ming shook her off and walked towards me.
Zhao Can bit her lip tightly, glared at me, and then ran away.
I quietly watched Wang Ming.
Wang Ming quietly looked at me as well.
I gently spoke up, "She seems to really like you."
Wang Ming paused and replied, "It has nothing to do with me."
My eyes flickered slightly, and I suddenly smiled. "Do you enjoy being associated with me this much?"
Wang Ming was taken aback, his expression somewhat unnatural.
I cleared my throat lightly and said, "Let's go."
Wang Ming paused, "Where to?"
"Aren't you going to help me?" I blinked.
Wang Ming hesitated and asked, "Do you... really need something from me?"
"Otherwise?" I chuckled lightly, "Am I here to have tea with you?"
Wang Ming's expression darkened, and he turned to leave.
I was startled and quickly chased after him, "Hey, where are you going?"
Wang Ming remained silent, his pace quickening.
I jogged to keep up with him, "Slow down; I can't keep up!"
Wang Ming still didn't say anything, but his steps gradually slowed down.
I silently breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, he was still willing to wait for me.
...
In the evening, Chu Yunhui followed Jin Yun to Runhe.
I stood on the balcony looking down and soon spotted Chu Yunhui.
She seemed to have lost a lot of weight, but her spirits were still quite good.
I watched her quietly, a hint of complexity flashing in my eyes.
Chu Yunhui, I hope you can do well.
...
Chu Yunhui was organizing her materials when she suddenly heard the doorbell.
She was startled and hurried to the bathroom to check herself in the mirror.
Jin Yun walked in: "Yunhui, how are you?"
Chu Yunhui nervously asked, "Sister Jin Yun, do I look okay?"
Jin Yun smiled: "You look beautiful; don't worry."
Chu Yunhui bit her lip, gathered her courage, and walked over to open the door.
Outside stood Wang Ming in a white casual outfit, clean and fresh-looking.
He looked at her, his gaze flickering slightly: "Hello."
Chu Yunhui's cheeks flushed: "Hello."
The two exchanged silent glances.
Jin Yun walked over, breaking the silence: "Dr. Wang, come in and have a seat."
Wang Ming hesitated for a moment, nodded, and walked in.
On the dining table were several light dishes and a pot of rice.
The three of them sat down and began to eat.
Jin Yun tried to lighten the mood: "Dr. Wang, try this eggplant; I made it myself."
Wang Ming nodded: "Thank you."
He picked up a piece of eggplant and put it in his mouth.
Jin Yun asked expectantly: "How is it?"
Wang Ming nodded: "It's very good."
"That's great," Jin Yun smiled and served him a piece of fish, "You should try this fish too."
Wang Ming nodded again and picked up the fish to eat.
Jin Yun asked again: "Is it good?"
Wang Ming paused, then nodded: "It's good."
Jin Yun smiled: "Then eat more."
Wang Ming nodded: "Thank you."
The meal went relatively smoothly.
After finishing the meal, Jin Yun received a call from Lu Yuan, saying he had an accident and asked her to hurry over.
Jin Yun left in a hurry.
Now, only Wang Ming, Chu Yunhui, and I remained in the room.
Chu Yunhui lowered her head, silently eating, not daring to speak.
Wang Ming also remained silent, and the atmosphere felt somewhat heavy.
I stood up and walked to the balcony, taking out my phone.
There was an unread WeChat message from Feng Hongyang.
"When are you coming back?"
I replied: "Tomorrow."
Feng Hongyang: "I miss you."
I paused, not replying.
My phone suddenly vibrated.
It was a call from Feng Hongyang.
I pressed the answer button and said, "Hello?"
Feng Hongyang's deep voice came through, "When are you coming back?"
"Tomorrow."
"What time specifically?"
"In the morning."
"I'll pick you up."
"No need." I cleared my throat lightly, "I'm coming back with Jin Yun."
Feng Hongyang fell silent for a moment before speaking again, "Jiang Yuan, I miss you."
I paused, my heart trembling slightly.
Feng Hongyang repeated, "I really miss you."
I pressed my lips together and replied, "I'm busy; I'll call you later."
After saying that, I hung up the phone.
...
I returned to the dining room.
Wang Ming looked up at me, "Whose call was that?"
I hesitated and replied, "A friend."
Wang Ming stared at me, "Which friend?"
I cleared my throat and said, "You don't know him."
Wang Ming's eyes flickered as his gaze fell on my phone.
The screen was unlocked, and he quickly saw the caller ID.
"Feng?"
He squinted his eyes, "Feng?"
I paused and picked up my phone, "Yeah, his last name is Feng."
Wang Ming stared at me, "Is it Feng Hongyang?"
"No," I denied it, "Just an ordinary friend."
Wang Ming squinted at me for a moment and said nothing further.
After finishing the meal, Wang Ming stood up and looked down at Chu Yunhui. "I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving."
Upon hearing this, Chu Yunhui quickly stood up. "You're leaving?"
Wang Ming nodded. "Yeah."
Chu Yunhui seemed a bit anxious. "But you just got here."
Wang Ming paused and replied, "I'm sorry, I really have something to do."
Chu Yunhui's eyes turned red. "When will you come back?"
Wang Ming was silent for a moment before saying, "I'll come when I have time."
Chu Yunhui pressed her lips together. "When will you have time?"
Wang Ming glanced at her but didn't say anything and turned to leave.
Chu Yunhui's eyes reddened even more, as if she was about to cry.
I stood up, walked over to her side, and gently patted her shoulder. "Don't be sad."
Chu Yunhui looked up at me, tears streaming down her face. "Jiang Yuan, did I mess up again?"
I paused and shook my head. "No."
Chu Yunhui lowered her head, tears falling more rapidly. "But Wang Ming... he doesn't like me at all."
"He likes you."
Chu Yunhui was taken aback, looking at me in disbelief.
I looked at her calmly. "He just isn't good at expressing himself."
Chu Yunhui paused, lowering her head again as tears continued to fall silently.
...
In the evening, Feng Hongyang returned.
He went straight to Runhe.
In the underground parking lot, he saw me.
And Wang Ming beside me.
I had my arm linked with Wang Ming's, resting my head on his shoulder; the two of us were very close.
Feng Hongyang's gaze sharpened as he strode over.
