After hesitating for a moment, I steeled myself, gritted my teeth, and walked towards the edge of the bed. I quietly lay down on the other side, trying to keep as much distance as possible from Shen Yulin, as if another person could fit between us. Lying on the bed, my heart raced with nervousness. Shen Yulin reached out and pulled me into his arms. The scent of vanilla on him brought me a sense of long-lost comfort. Being so close, I could clearly feel the changes in his body, and I instantly stiffened. Shen Yulin lowered his head and kissed my forehead, creating some distance between our lower bodies. "Don't worry, sleep well. I won't touch you."
A thought crossed my mind, and I closed my eyes, choosing not to say anything more. My body had become extremely sensitive and fragile since becoming pregnant, and I felt unusually tired. I quickly fell into a deep sleep. Shen Yulin listened quietly to my gradually steadying breaths. Once he confirmed that I had fallen asleep, he gently lowered his head and slowly approached my lips. This kiss was different from the passionate ones of the past; it was filled with tenderness and affection. He merely brushed his lips against mine before pulling away quickly, as if afraid to wake me from my slumber.
Then he reached out and carefully stroked my slightly protruding belly, feeling the life within me. A smile of happiness and contentment spread across his face, his eyes filled with anticipation and dreams for the future. Finally, he closed his eyes as well, drifting off into a sweet dream alongside me, savoring this peaceful and beautiful moment.
Morning sunlight filtered through the window, gently illuminating the room. I slightly opened my eyes and saw Shen Yulin sleeping beside me. His sleeping posture was calm and serene; one hand rested under my neck while the other lay on my belly. His tightly shut eyes occasionally fluttered gently. The sunlight cast a glow on his face, outlining his features and making him look even more handsome and charming. I quietly watched him, feeling a warm emotion swell within me, wishing time could freeze at this moment.
Shen Yulin slowly opened his eyes; his blurry vision gradually became clear. When he saw me, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes before he broke into a warm smile. "Good morning, Star."
"Good morning." I tried to shift my body to sit up, but he quickly helped me sit up. "Take it slow; I'll carry you to wash up." Before I could refuse, he lifted me up, and I wrapped my arms around his shoulders. The strap of my nightgown slipped down, revealing a patch of white skin on my chest, making me feel embarrassed as I tugged at it. Since becoming pregnant, although my weight hadn't increased much, my bust had grown significantly. Shen Yulin stared at that glimpse of skin, swallowed hard, and said with burning eyes, "Star, you're beautiful." My face instantly turned red as I playfully scolded him, "You're awful! Put me down!"
After we finished washing up, we walked down the stairs together. At that moment, Uncle happened to catch sight of Shen Yulin's flattering yet slightly mischievous expression and couldn't help but rub his forehead helplessly. "Didn't I tell you not to enter Xiao Fan's room without permission? If your sister-in-law catches you like this later on, she won't let you off easily!"
Shen Yulin shrugged nonchalantly. "That's where I'll rely on you! As for your sister-in-law... well, that's all up to you to handle! Right now, all I want is to have breakfast with my wife and child!" With that said, he affectionately wrapped an arm around my shoulder and shot a triumphant glance at Uncle.
"You... what nonsense are you talking about! Who's your wife?!" My cheeks flushed bright red as I shyly pushed him away gently.
