The doctor came to my house for a follow-up checkup the next day around noon. When I heard the doctor say that I could get out of bed and move around, my heart bloomed like a flower; I was extremely happy, finally able to go outside and breathe fresh air. My aunt looked at me, clearly worried about how pent-up I seemed, and shook her head helplessly. "Don't get too carried away; you'll only truly feel relieved once the baby is born." I tightly linked my arm with my aunt's and said, "Look at me, I'm doing just fine now, so don't worry."
After waking up in the afternoon, Shen Yulin accompanied me for a walk in the neighborhood. My phone rang, and when I picked it up, I saw it was Zhang Yun calling. As soon as I answered, Zhang Yun's voice came through: "Hey babe~ Did you miss me?"
"Of course! How's my godson doing?" I asked eagerly.
"He's doing well in your belly!" Zhang Yun said gently, stroking her pregnant belly.
"Once the baby is born, Brother Yulin and I will come to see you," I said excitedly.
"Shen Third Master?" Zhang Yun suddenly raised her voice on the other end of the line, filled with surprise. "What's going on? Didn't you two break up?"
I felt a bit flustered; I had forgotten to tell Zhang Yun that I was back with Shen Yulin. So, I paused for a moment and tried to explain, "Well... actually we..." However, before I could finish my sentence, Zhang Yun interrupted me.
"How did you two get back together? Didn't he promise to leave and never come back?" Her tone was laced with confusion and concern.
I stopped walking and slightly tightened my grip on Shen Yulin's hand as I confessed to Zhang Yun, "After that day, we really didn't have any contact. It's just that later I found out I was pregnant..."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yun stood up from the couch in shock. "What? You're pregnant!!!! Why didn't you tell me!"
"I'm sorry; so much has happened recently. I just didn't know how to tell you," I said apologetically. Wanting to say more, Shen Yulin suddenly took my phone and spoke into the receiver: "I'm the one who wanted to come back; don't blame her; it's not her fault." After saying that, he handed the phone back to me.
Zhang Yun was silent for a moment before slowly saying, "Alright then, since you've both decided this, all I can do is wish you well. But just so you know, I'm definitely going to be the godmother!"
I quickly nodded and replied, "You will definitely be the godmother! By the way, how are you feeling now? Is there anything uncomfortable?"
"I'm okay; just sometimes my back aches because my belly is getting bigger," Zhang Yun said with a smile.
"Make sure to rest more and not overdo it. If you need any help, just let me know anytime," I advised with concern.
"I know; don't worry! Oh right, Xingxing. There's a class reunion tonight. Hai Feng and I are both in the capital and can't make it. Can you go in our place with Mr. Shen?"
"A class reunion? From middle school?" A ripple of excitement washed over me as I asked.
"Yes, from middle school. Since both you and Mr. Shen are in Z City right now, we thought it would be great if you could go!"
As soon as I heard about the reunion, my eyes lit up with anticipation as I looked at Shen Yulin. However, he helplessly rubbed his forehead and sighed. "You just recovered; your body isn't fully healed yet, and you're already thinking about going to a gathering. If something happens, Uncle definitely won't let me off."
I disregarded his concerns as I hung up the phone tightly holding his hand while playfully shaking it and pouting: "Come on... please... If anything happens, I'll tell Dad okay? I promise I'll take care of myself! Plus, it's been so long since I've seen my old classmates; I really want to go!" I gazed at him with longing eyes, hoping for his approval. Seeing my hopeful expression, Shen Yulin finally softened his stance. "Alright then, you can go. But if you feel unwell at all, make sure to tell me."
I was overjoyed like a child as I hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Brother Yulin! I knew you were the best!"
