Hearing this, I almost spat out the water I had just taken a sip of. I looked at him helplessly, feeling both annoyed and amused. "Why do people get younger as they age? He didn't even mention my name," I tried to explain. But Shen Yulin wasn't listening at all; he continued to cling tightly to my shoulder, acting like a child throwing a tantrum. I couldn't do anything about it, so I just let him be, secretly sighing that love really makes people childish!
"Alright, don't be upset," I patted his hand to comfort him. "Let's go home."
Only then did Shen Yulin straighten up, taking my hand as he stood up. "Everyone, we're leaving now," I said with a smile while bidding farewell to everyone.
My classmates cast envious glances our way, and someone teased, "Wow, so affectionate! You should get married soon!"
My face turned red instantly, while Shen Yulin laughed and pulled me out of the private room. The fresh air outside was pleasant; I took a deep breath, savoring the tranquility of the night. "What were you doing just now with so many people around?" I complained softly.
"I don't care; I'm just unhappy that he still likes you," Shen Yulin mumbled. I couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, okay, I get it. Are you still mad now?"
"I'm not mad anymore. Did you eat enough earlier? How about I take you for some late-night snacks?" Shen Yulin's tone was very gentle. It was only then that I realized I had been chatting with my classmates at the gathering and hardly ate anything. At that moment, my stomach began to protest softly, as if telling me it was starving.
Shen Yulin seemed to sense my thoughts; he smiled and took my hand, leading me toward a food street near the gathering place. The street was brightly lit on both sides, with the aroma of various foods wafting through the air, making my mouth water. We strolled along the street, and Shen Yulin occasionally stopped to check out the food stalls before selecting a few particularly tempting snacks.
Before long, Shen Yulin's hands were filled with several delicious dishes, including steaming grilled skewers, fragrant pancakes with fillings, and delicate desserts. Each type of food emitted an appetizing aroma that greatly increased my appetite.
I sat at a small stall selling Spicy Hot Pot while waiting for Shen Yulin to buy Roujiamo. Sitting alone felt a bit boring, so I lowered my head and started scrolling through my phone. Just then, a voice reached my ears: "Hey beautiful, are you here alone?" I looked up to see a man dressed in an overly flashy manner standing beside me; his hair was dyed white and he wore all black clothes, creating a stark contrast. When he saw that I didn't respond, he unceremoniously sat down and introduced himself: "Hi, I'm Kezi; I live nearby. How come such a beautiful girl like you is out eating so late?"
"She's not alone."
The man sitting at our table suddenly turned serious; his expression became somewhat awkward. He cleared his throat lightly as if trying to cover up some embarrassment before saying, "Ahem... So you're here with your boyfriend? My apologies." After saying this, he quickly stood up, slightly bowed his body, and hurriedly left his seat.
I found it somewhat amusing and turned to glance at Shen Yulin beside me, whose face was darkened with displeasure. I smiled and asked, "Did you get it?" He stared at me with a mournful look in his eyes and sat down next to me unhappily, pouting as he said, "Baby, how could you let a stranger sit at our table? I went through all that trouble waiting in line to get you good food." Hearing him say this made me burst into laughter.
"Hehe, are you mad? I really didn't know he would be so forward! By the time I realized and wanted to stop him, he had already sat down." As I explained this while shifting my chair closer to him with a playful smile on my face, I gazed at him intently. "Alright alright, don't be upset anymore; let's eat." I picked up my chopsticks and placed a large shrimp into his bowl while gently urging him on.
