Although I have already changed my college application, I know that the first step to truly changing my future is to completely break free from my family's control. Only by being entirely independent of them can I live my own life.
In my previous life, I worked hard, achieving high scores one after another, only to have my parents alter my application and choose an obscure major, causing me to miss out on my ideal university. This time, I will not make the same mistake. I will rely on my own efforts to create a wonderful life.
When I got home, I put down my backpack and saw my mother watching television in the living room.
"You're back?" she glanced at me and casually asked.
I nodded, "Yes, I'm back."
"Then go take a shower and then eat," she urged.
I responded and walked into the bathroom. Looking at myself in the mirror, I suddenly felt that I seemed to have changed. I was no longer the girl suffocated by family pressure but a brand new me—someone who could be independent.
After taking a shower, I sat down at the dining table. My father had not yet returned home; he was probably working late again. My mother brought over the dishes and placed them on the table, saying to me, "Eat."
I picked up my chopsticks and quietly began to eat. My mother didn't say much either; she occasionally served me some food. The atmosphere was very quiet, even a bit awkward. But I had already gotten used to it.
I had long been tired of this kind of life. Therefore, I must leave this home as soon as possible. In the following days, I began looking for various part-time jobs both at school and outside.
I calculated that, given my family's current financial situation, the allowance my parents can provide is very limited. If I don't find a way to earn money, I might not even have enough to eat. Moreover, I need to plan for my future.
Taking advantage of my knowledge from my past life, I began looking for part-time jobs in bookstores, cafes, and Western restaurants. With my excellent performance, I quickly received several part-time opportunities. Every night, I would study programming and English skills under the desk lamp. These skills are crucial for my future career development.
Although I had excellent grades in school before, I am now working even harder. I understand that to establish myself in this society, I must possess strong capabilities. And all of this requires my own effort.
That night was my first day working at the bookstore. Looking at the shelves filled with a variety of books, my feelings were somewhat complex. In my previous life, I often spent entire days in bookstores, immersed in my own world. But now, I have to take responsibility for my life.
I took a deep breath and walked to the counter to start helping with the cash register. I was a bit nervous on my first day, but fortunately, I gradually became more familiar with the tasks. After work, I looked at the money I earned in my pocket and couldn't help but smile. This was my first bucket of gold in life.
When I returned home, it was already nine o'clock at night. My parents were asleep, and the living room was dark. I tiptoed back to my room, turned on the light, sat at my desk, took out my books, and continued studying. From that day on, my life became busy. During the day, I attended classes; at night, I worked part-time; and on weekends, I went to tutoring classes. Yet, I felt very fulfilled.
Because I can finally do something for my own future. Time flies, and before I know it, it's back to school season. Looking at the grand and magnificent school gate in front of me, I feel a bit excited. In my past life, I never imagined I would come to such a place. Yet now, I will spend the next four years here. As I walk into the campus, feeling the warmth of the sunlight on my skin, my heart is filled with anticipation. In the days to come, I will definitely work hard!
