"Are you okay?" Yan Jien turned to Yan Weila and asked.
"I'm fine, thank you," Yan Weila said gratefully as she looked at Yan Jien.
"It's so late, why are you here alone?" Yan Jien asked.
"I went out with some friends for a while and just got back," Yan Weila explained.
"You should go out less at night; it's not safe," Yan Jien said.
"Mm." Yan Weila nodded, looking obedient like a little girl.
"I'll walk you home," Yan Jien offered.
"My ankle seems to be sprained; I can't walk," Yan Weila said with a wry smile.
"Then I'll carry you," Yan Jien said hesitantly.
"Is that... really okay?" Yan Weila hesitated.
"There's nothing wrong with it; come on," Yan Jien said as he squatted down.
Yan Weila hesitated for a few seconds but eventually climbed onto Yan Jien's back.
Yan Jien carried Yan Weila and headed toward her home.
"Did you know those people from earlier?" Yan Jien asked.
"I didn't know them," Yan Weila shook her head.
"Why did they target you?" Yan Jien asked again.
"They said they thought I was pretty and wanted to be friends with me," Yan Weila said softly.
"That's outrageous!" Yan Jien's expression darkened.
Although he had suspected it, hearing it directly from Yan Weila made him furious.
"If you hadn't shown up in time today, I might have..." Yan Weila thought of a terrible outcome and trembled slightly.
"Don't worry; as long as I'm here, they can't hurt you," Yan Jien reassured her.
"Mm." Yan Weila responded softly.
The two remained silent, and soon they arrived at the bottom of Yan Weila's building.
"Just drop me off here," Yan Weila suddenly said.
"Your foot is injured; let me take you up," Yan Jien replied.
"No need, I can walk by myself," Yan Weila insisted.
"Alright then, be careful," Yan Jien said as he set Yan Weila down.
"Okay, goodbye," Yan Weila smiled and turned, limping towards the stairs.
Yan Jien watched her retreating figure, feeling a strange emotion in his heart.
He shook his head, pushing aside his thoughts, and turned to leave.
Back home, Yan Jien lay on his bed, his mind racing.
He recalled the encounter with Yan Weila earlier.
Those three men were clearly not good people; if they had their sights set on Yan Weila, they would not let it go easily.
"It seems I need to come up with a plan to deal with this trouble!" Yan Jien thought to himself, narrowing his eyes.
He decided that tomorrow he would confront those three men and resolve the issue once and for all!
The next day, Yan Jien went about his routine: work, dinner, exercise.
At midnight, he went out again, following the same route as last night to mark his territory.
He wanted to see how intense the frenzy could become after a second transformation.
He walked along the road heading north until he reached Mu Cu Street.
"Hmm? Is someone coming?" Yan Jien suddenly heard footsteps ahead.
He looked up and saw three men approaching him.
These were the same three men who had harassed Yan Weila last night!
"What a stroke of luck; I didn't have to search far!" A smirk appeared on Yan Jien's face.
He had been looking for these guys, and now they had come right to him.
"Kid, we finally caught you!" The three men glared at Yan Jien, their eyes gleaming with menace.
"What do you want?" Yan Jien asked calmly.
"What do you want? Hmph, yesterday you injured three of our brothers, today we will make you pay the price!" a man said coldly.
"Oh? Is that so?" Yan Jien raised an eyebrow.
"Kid, kneel down and beg for mercy now, or maybe we can let you off easy. Otherwise..." another man threatened.
"Otherwise what?" Yan Jien retorted.
"Otherwise, we'll ruin you!" the last man said harshly.
"Heh." Yan Jien sneered disdainfully.
"Kid, what are you laughing at?" the first man frowned.
"I'm laughing at how unaware you are of your own limitations." Yan Jien shook his head.
"Damn it, you're so arrogant even when death is imminent!" one man cursed angrily and swung his fist at Yan Jien.
Yan Jien's expression turned cold as he kicked out.
With a dull thud, the man was sent flying and landed five meters away.
"Ah..." The man clutched his stomach and let out a piercing scream.
"You... you..." The other two men turned pale at the sight.
"I'll give you one more chance. Kneel down and apologize, and I might consider letting you go. Otherwise..." Yan Jien stared at the two men with a chilling tone.
The two men exchanged glances, seeing fear in each other's eyes.
"Thud!" They both knelt down almost simultaneously.
"I'm... I'm sorry!" they said with their heads lowered, trembling.
"Speak louder, I can't hear you!" Yan Jien shouted.
"I'm sorry!" they raised their voices.
"Haven't you eaten? Louder!" Yan Jien shouted again.
"I'm sorry!" they nearly yelled it out.
"That's more like it." Yan Jien nodded in satisfaction.
