In the evening, Xu Qian invited me to his house for tea. I went, but upon arrival, I discovered that Zhou Hong was also there. She was wearing a bathrobe, just coming out of the bathroom. When she saw me, she calmly sat on the sofa and started applying body lotion.
I said, "..."
I turned to look at Xu Qian, my expression turning cold. "Did you lie to me?"
"How did I lie to you?" Xu Qian replied innocently. "I just invited you over for tea; I never said no one would be here."
"…"
He smiled mischievously, and I gritted my teeth in anger. Xu Qian poured me a cup of tea. "Try it; I just brewed it."
"I'm not interested."
"Why not?" Xu Qian looked at me. "Afraid I'll poison you?"
"…"
I walked over and sat down next to Xu Qian, picking up the teacup and taking a sip.
Xu Qian smiled proudly. "My tea skills are pretty good, right?"
"Just okay."
"Heh," Xu Qian chuckled, "better than your acting skills."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Isn't it true?" Xu Qian looked at me. "Your acting is far worse than your tea skills."
"…"
I gritted my teeth in frustration. Xu Qian poured more tea for me. "Drink more; it will help."
"…"
As Xu Qian poured tea for me, Zhou Hong, unwilling to be outdone, sat across from us and began pouring tea as well.
"President Fu, please."
Xu Qian looked at her, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Miss Ji, are you trying to compete with me?"
"Is President Fu unwilling?"
"How could that be?" Xu Qian chuckled. "I'm in for the long haul."
With that, the two of them began to brew tea.
I thought to myself: "..."
They exchanged banter back and forth while I sat beside them like an outsider, feeling awkward and uncomfortable.
Finally, unable to bear it any longer, I stood up. "I'm leaving first."
"President Qin, don't go," Zhou Hong said, grabbing my arm and smiling at me. "See you tomorrow."
I replied: "..."
She picked up a teacup and handed it to me. "President Qin, please have some tea."
I looked at her, smiled, took the teacup, and sipped. "Not bad."
"Thank you."
I set down the teacup, stood up, and looked at Xu Qian. "I'm leaving."
"No need to see you off."
I turned to walk out, but as I reached the door, Xu Qian suddenly called out to me.
I turned back to look at him. "Is there something?"
"Nothing," Xu Qian said as he looked at me. "Be careful on the way."
"Thank you."
I stepped outside, got into my car, and started the engine.
As I drove down the road, I suddenly spotted Li Rong.
He was walking alone, swaying unsteadily; it seemed he had drunk quite a bit.
I stopped the car and walked up to him. "Li Rong?"
Li Rong looked at me, squinting for a long time, and then suddenly hugged me tightly.
He clung to me, "Sister, you're back?"
"Why did you drink so much?"
"Sister, you smell so good." He sniffed me and then frowned, "There's the scent of another man’s perfume."
"..."
I sighed, "You're drunk."
"I'm not drunk!" He looked at me, "Sister, you smell like another man."
"..."
I didn't know how to explain it to him, so I could only say, "Let's go home first."
"Okay." He nodded obediently.
I took him to the car and drove back to my house.
Once home, I gave him a bowl of hangover soup and helped him lie down on the bed.
I looked at him, "You can sleep now."
"Sister," he looked at me, "don't go."
"I won't leave." I smiled, "I'm going to take a shower."
"Okay." He nodded obediently.
I went to take a shower, and when I came out, I saw Li Rong sitting on the bed.
His eyes were dazed, looking quite drunk.
I walked to the edge of the bed and was about to speak when he looked up at me with confused eyes for a long time and then reached out, calling me, "Sister."
My heart ached.
I thought how nice it would be if he were just a little pet I raised. If he were my little pet, I could take care of him for a lifetime.
