After work, she drove to the hot pot restaurant from last night. Chen Wu was already waiting. She walked over, sat down, and said, "Have you been waiting long?"
"No," Chen Wu smiled, "I just arrived."
Lin Wan nodded, and the two of them had dinner together. After the meal, Chen Wu drove her back.
In the following half month, they met from time to time and went out for meals. Lin Wan gradually became accustomed to his presence. She even started to look forward to seeing him every day.
On the third day of summer vacation, Lin Wan met up with her best friend. Zhou Wen was on annual leave and had been traveling recently; she just returned yesterday. As soon as they met, Zhou Wen began to gossip. She suddenly remembered something and asked Lin Wan, "By the way, you mentioned that guy you went on a blind date with. What was his name again?"
"Chen Wu," Lin Wan replied.
"Chen Wu?" Zhou Wen exclaimed in surprise, "Is it really him?"
Lin Wan nodded.
Zhou Wen squinted at her and scrutinized her closely: "Didn't you say he was married before?"
"Yes," Lin Wan said.
"Then why would you marry him?" Zhou Wen asked, "Are you crazy?"
"Not too bad," Lin Wan said, "he's quite nice."
"How nice?" Zhou Wen scoffed, "better than me?"
Lin Wan sighed, "How could that be compared?"
"Anyway, I don't care," Zhou Wen huffed, "I need to check that guy out. If he can't pass my test, don't even think about marrying him."
Lin Wan smiled, "Alright, I'll listen to you."
"That's more like it," Zhou Wen grunted, "I've really worried about you."
Lin Wan helplessly replied, "Yes, yes, I know."
"What do you know?" Zhou Wen glared at her, "In high school, you liked Chen Wu, but he didn't even acknowledge you. Who was hurt then?"
Lin Wan pressed her lips together and remained silent.
Zhou Wen huffed again, "Anyway, I don't care. If you're getting married, it has to be with my approval."
"Okay," Lin Wan said resignedly, "I'll do as you say."
Zhou Wen was finally satisfied: "That's more like it."
The two of them spent the day shopping, and by evening, Lin Wan had arranged to have dinner with Chen Wu.
Once they entered the restaurant, the three of them sat facing each other.
Zhou Wen looked at Chen Wu and then at Lin Wan and asked, "How did you two meet?"
"Blind date," Lin Wan replied.
"A blind date?" Zhou Wen exclaimed in surprise, "You two went on a blind date?"
Lin Wan nodded.
Zhou Wen squinted at Chen Wu: "Did you know Xiao Yuan before?"
"I did," Chen Wu said, "she was my classmate in high school."
"Oh," Zhou Wen nodded, "What do you do now?"
"I run a car shop," Chen Wu answered.
Zhou Wen nodded again and didn't ask anything further.
After dinner, Chen Wu took Zhou Wen home and then brought Lin Wan to see the new apartment. The new place was empty, with only the floor and walls present.
Lin Wan looked at the house, feeling a strange sensation inside. She turned around, and Chen Wu was also looking at her. Their eyes met, and they exchanged a smile. Lin Wan turned back, feeling sweet inside. She looked at the house and asked Chen Wu, "How do you plan to decorate it?"
"What do you think?" Chen Wu replied with a question.
Lin Wan gazed at the house and thought for a moment. "I want to make the living room have floor-to-ceiling windows, then buy a sofa so I can lie on it and see the river view outside."
"Sounds good," Chen Wu nodded.
"As for the bedroom," Lin Wan blinked, "I want a bay window where I can sit and enjoy the scenery."
"Alright," Chen Wu said, "we'll do it your way."
Lin Wan smiled, "Shall we go choose furniture?"
"Sure," Chen Wu nodded.
The two went to the Furniture Store to pick out furniture. Lin Wan found a set of sofas in a creamy white color that was very beautiful.
Chen Wu asked, "Do you like it?"
Lin Wan nodded, "I do."
"Then let's buy this one," Chen Wu said.
Lin Wan smiled, "Okay."
They continued to select other furniture, and everything went smoothly. In the end, Chen Wu paid for everything, and the Furniture Store staff informed them that delivery would be the next day.
Lin Wan nodded, "Alright."
The next day, the Furniture Store staff delivered the furniture. Lin Wan and Chen Wu signed for it together, confirming that everything was in order, and Chen Wu paid the remaining balance.
The house was decorated, and all the furniture had been moved in.
Lin Wan looked at the new house, feeling sweet inside.
She turned around, and Chen Wu was also looking at her.
Their eyes met, and they smiled at each other.
That night, they slept together.
In the darkness, Chen Wu looked at Lin Wan and said in a hoarse voice, "Lin Wan."
"Mm?" Lin Wan responded.
"We will," Chen Wu said, his voice getting lower, "live well from now on."
Lin Wan smiled and replied, "Okay."
She closed her eyes, preparing to sleep.
Chen Wu watched her with a burning gaze.
Lin Wan felt uncomfortable under his stare and pushed him, "What are you doing?"
"Lin Wan," Chen Wu said hoarsely, "I want to kiss you."
Lin Wan's heart raced a little faster; she pressed her lips together and said, "No."
"Why not?" Chen Wu frowned.
"You smoked," Lin Wan replied.
Chen Wu was taken aback but then laughed, "I brushed my teeth."
"That still doesn't work," Lin Wan said, "I don't like the smell of smoke."
Chen Wu sighed in resignation, "Then I'll take a shower."
"Okay," Lin Wan nodded.
Chen Wu kissed her lightly and then got out of bed.
Lin Wan listened to the sound of water in the bathroom, feeling sweet inside.
She lay there for a while and unknowingly fell asleep.
