After taking a walk by the river, Lin Wan returned to the hotel. She lay on the bed, flipping through the photos taken today; each one was beautiful, and Chen Wu had great photography skills, capturing the scenery with a sense of artistry. As Lin Wan looked at their group photo, she felt a sweet sensation in her heart.
This photo reminded her of something. After the college entrance examination that year, the school held a sports meeting. Lin Wan participated in the high jump competition and won first place. After the competition, Chen Wu found her and said he wanted to take a picture with her. Lin Wan was very happy, so they took their first and only group photo together.
Lin Wan had cherished that photo all along; after entering university, she placed it in a frame on her desk. She looked at that photo every day, feeling a sense of happiness. Until she graduated from university and moved back home, where there was no space for the frame, she put the photo in a cabinet. Later, as work got busy, she gradually forgot about it.
Now that she thought of it, she suddenly wanted to see that photo again. Lin Wan got up and opened the cabinet to search for it. She looked for a long time and finally found the frame. She wiped off the dust on it and looked at herself and Chen Wu in the photo, feeling a strange sensation in her heart.
This was when she was eighteen; at that time, she was full of vitality and carefree. Chen Wu back then was also quite innocent, not as mature and steady as he was now. Lin Wan gazed at Chen Wu in the photo, unable to help but smile. Her fingers gently brushed against Chen Wu's face, filling her heart with a soft feeling.
She even remembered that day when the sun was very bright, making their skin feel hot. She recalled that Chen Wu had a faint fragrance that was pleasant. She also remembered his radiant smile, which gave off a warm feeling.
Lin Wan looked at the photo, unable to suppress a smile. She wanted to hold onto this moment forever.
The next morning, Lin Wan changed into a comfortable set of sportswear and went hiking with Chen Wu. Lin Wan was not athletic; she had always disliked physical education classes in school. However, today she was determined to reach the mountain top, no matter how tiring it might be.
Chen Wu seemed to know that she lacked stamina and kept asking her if she wanted to take a break along the way. Lin Wan shook her head each time, insisting that she was not tired. In reality, she was already exhausted but didn't want Chen Wu to think less of her.
After reaching halfway up the mountain, Lin Wan could no longer continue and had to sit down to rest. Chen Wu bought two ice creams and handed one to her. Lin Wan took it, took a bite, and found it cold and sweet.
"Is it good?" Chen Wu asked.
"Yes," Lin Wan nodded.
"Do you want more?" Chen Wu inquired.
"No, that's enough," Lin Wan shook her head.
"Then let's keep going," Chen Wu said.
"Okay," Lin Wan nodded and continued to climb. She tried hard to push herself upward, but her legs felt as heavy as lead, making it difficult to move.
"I can carry you," Chen Wu suddenly offered.
"No, thank you," Lin Wan quickly shook her head. There were too many people around; she felt embarrassed.
"Then just take your time," Chen Wu said without insisting further.
Lin Wan continued her ascent, each step becoming increasingly challenging. Suddenly, she felt Chen Wu grab her hand.
She turned her head and looked at him.
"Hold my hand, save some strength," Chen Wu said.
"Okay," Lin Wan did not refuse.
Chen Wu's hand was large, rough, but warm.
Lin Wan's hand was tightly held by him, and her palm felt a bit warm.
She followed his footsteps, climbing step by step.
Gradually, her stamina recovered a bit, and her pace up the mountain quickened.
Three hours later, the two reached the summit and overlooked the beautiful scenery.
"Wow, it's so beautiful!" Lin Wan couldn't help but exclaim.
"Yeah," Chen Wu nodded.
The two stood at the top of the mountain, enjoying the view, feeling incredibly joyful.
"Here, have some," Lin Wan took out a piece of dried tofu and brought it to his mouth.
"Thank you," Chen Wu opened his mouth and bit into the dried tofu.
Lin Wan watched him, feeling a strange sensation in her heart.
This feeling was unfamiliar but not unpleasant.
She even thought it was quite nice.
They stayed at the summit for a while before starting to descend.
The way down was steeper, and Lin Wan found it even harder to walk.
Chen Wu suggested carrying her again, but Lin Wan still refused.
She didn't want to be laughed at by others.
Chen Wu didn't insist; he held her hand and slowly walked down.
Lin Wan looked at his back and felt a sense of security in her heart.
Suddenly, she thought how wonderful it would be if life could always be like this.
