When I got home, I took a shower and went to bed. The next day, when I woke up, I saw a message from Chen Wu. He told me that we would meet his parents next week. Although I felt a bit nervous, I agreed.
After breakfast, I called Chen Wu to let him know that I was free in the afternoon. We then set a time and place to meet. After that, I started to get busy. I went to a flower shop and bought a bouquet, then went to the supermarket to buy some gifts. After a whole day of preparation, I was finally ready.
I returned home, put everything away, and then went to the kitchen to cook. During dinner, I said to my parents, "Dad, Mom, I'm going to meet Chen Wu's parents next week."
"Really?" Mom seemed surprised.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Then you should dress nicely," Mom said with a smile.
"I know," I nodded again.
"What gifts did you buy?" Dad asked.
"I bought a bouquet of flowers and some health products," I replied.
"Sounds good," Dad nodded.
"Don't be too nervous," Mom said with a smile. "I've met Chen Wu's parents before; they are very nice."
"I know," I nodded.
"Just act normally when you meet them," Mom advised.
"Okay," I nodded.
"By the way, make sure to rest well these days," Mom reminded me.
"I know," I nodded again.
"And remember to pay attention to your appearance," Mom added.
"I know," I nodded once more.
"And also..." Mom seemed like she wanted to say something else.
"Mom, I understand." I quickly interrupted her.
"Alright, I won't say anything more," my mom replied with a smile.
I let out a sigh of relief.
That night, I lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Images of Chen Wu kept flashing through my mind.
I recalled our first meeting and our first date... Those beautiful memories replayed in my mind like a movie.
My heart softened.
I felt that I should cherish the happiness in front of me.
I thought about it all night and finally came to a realization.
I decided to let go of the past and be with Chen Wu properly.
The next morning, I saw a message from Chen Wu.
He told me that he had sent my photo to his parents.
After reading it, I felt a bit shy.
This was my first time officially meeting his family.
I felt a little nervous inside.
But I also knew that this was a necessary process.
I took a deep breath and replied, "Okay, I understand."
After a while, Chen Wu sent me a screenshot.
When I opened it, it was from his social media.
I saw that he had posted a picture of me with the caption: "This is my wife."
I noticed there were many comments on his post.
"Wow, so beautiful."
"Who is this?"
"You haven't posted in a long time."
"Who is this?"
"Congratulations!"
Looking at those comments made my heart feel sweet.
This was the first time I saw his social media post.
I noticed that he never posts on social media. His first post was yesterday. His second post was about me. I think he must really like me. Looking at that post, I couldn't help but smile. This is the happiness I want. I believe that Chen Wu and I will definitely be happy together.
In the evening, Chen Wu and I went to the cinema together. We watched a movie, a romantic film. We were very engrossed in it. When the movie ended, we walked out of the cinema hand in hand. As we reached the parking lot and were about to get in the car, we suddenly heard someone calling us.
We turned around and saw two girls walking towards us. One of them I recognized; she was Chen Wu's high school classmate, Li Meng. The other one was unfamiliar to me.
“Chen Wu, long time no see,” Li Meng said with a smile.
“Long time no see,” Chen Wu replied with a smile.
“This is…” Li Meng looked at me.
“She is Lin Wan, my fiancée,” Chen Wu introduced.
“Fiancée?” Li Meng looked at me in surprise.
“Hello,” I greeted with a smile.
“Hello,” Li Meng also smiled back.
“Did you come to watch a movie too?” Chen Wu asked.
“Yes,” Li Meng nodded.
“Well, we’ll be on our way then,” Chen Wu said with a smile.
“Alright, goodbye,” Li Meng smiled back.
So we got into the car. Inside, I asked Chen Wu, “Was that girl just now your high school classmate?”
“Yes,” Chen Wu nodded.
"She is really beautiful," I said.
"Yes," Chen Wu nodded.
"Does she have a boyfriend?" I asked.
"I'm not sure," Chen Wu shook his head.
"What kind of guy do you think she would like?" I asked.
"I don't know," Chen Wu shook his head again.
"I think she would prefer someone mature and steady," I said.
"Maybe," Chen Wu replied lightly.
I glanced at him, feeling somewhat puzzled.
I thought Chen Wu's attitude was a bit strange.
He seemed reluctant to mention Li Meng.
Why was that?
I pondered for a moment and decided not to press further.
Perhaps something unpleasant had happened between them, I thought.
We continued driving forward.
Suddenly, Chen Wu asked, "Would you like something to drink?"
"I'd like some coffee," I replied.
"Okay, I'll take you," Chen Wu smiled.
So we went to a nearby café.
We found a seat by the window and sat down.
We ordered two cups of coffee.
We slowly sipped our coffee, enjoying the tranquility of the moment.
My heart was filled with happiness.
I thought, this is the life I want.
