When I returned home in the evening, Chen Wu told me he had something to do and might be back late.
"Oh, I understand," I replied.
"You should rest early and don't wait for me," he said.
"Okay," I responded.
At seven o'clock in the evening, I received a WeChat message from Chen Wu.
"I'll be home by seven, don't wait for me to eat."
"Alright, I'll wait for you to come back and eat together," I replied.
"Okay," he responded with a single word.
At seven o'clock, Chen Wu returned home on time.
"You're back," I said with a smile.
"Mm," he replied, but his expression seemed a bit off.
"What's wrong?" I asked curiously.
"Nothing," he shook his head.
"Is it that work isn't going well?" I inquired.
"No," he shook his head again.
"Then what is it?" I asked with concern.
"Really nothing, don't worry," he reassured me.
"Oh," I replied, not asking further.
We silently ate our meal, and the atmosphere felt somewhat heavy.
"Xiao Yuan," he suddenly spoke up.
"Mm?" I looked up at him.
"I met with the clients today, and they asked me about life after marriage," he said.
"Oh," I replied, waiting for him to continue.
"I told them that I am very happy after getting married," he said.
"Mm," I smiled.
"They were all surprised to hear that," he said.
"Why?" I asked curiously.
"I don't know," he shook his head.
"Maybe they think you're still young and shouldn't get married so early," I guessed.
"Maybe," he nodded.
"You don't have to care about what others say; as long as you're happy, that's what matters," I comforted him.
"I know," he smiled, "I just want you to know that I didn't marry you on a whim."
"Mm, I know," I smiled back.
"I will always treat you well," he promised.
"Mm," I responded, feeling a warm surge in my heart.
After dinner, Chen Wu and I watched TV together.
I opened the group chat and saw Song Mei had sent a message saying she wanted to organize a class reunion.
"This time the gathering is on me, everyone must come!"
"I'm in!" Zhou Wen was the first to reply.
"I'm going too," I replied as well.
"Is Chen Wu coming?" Song Mei tagged me.
"He..." I was about to respond when Chen Wu suddenly leaned over.
"Of course he's coming, as Xiao Yuan's family member," he said with a smile.
"Wow, that's great!" Song Mei replied excitedly.
"Then I definitely have to go," Zhou Wen replied.
I looked at the message on the screen and couldn't help but laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Chen Wu asked curiously.
"I think it's really fun," I said with a smile.
"What’s so fun about it?" he inquired.
"It's just that everyone is chatting together; it feels very lively," I explained.
"If you like it, we can participate in more activities like this," he suggested.
"Sure," I replied.
Before going to bed that night, I tidied up my room and wanted to find a composition book for reference.
After searching for a long time without success, I was getting anxious when suddenly I spotted it at the very bottom of the drawer.
I opened the composition book and saw my name written all over it.
Lin Wan
Lin Wan
...
I was stunned.
What was going on?
I clearly remembered not writing my name in this composition book!
Could I have remembered it wrong?
I thought carefully, but I still had no recollection.
Could it be that I wrote it unconsciously?
I couldn't help but laugh again.
It was so strange that I had unconsciously written down my own name.
