The face of the Xu Jiachen was getting closer. His warm breath brushed against my face. I closed my eyes, waiting for his kiss.
"Click—" A sudden sound pierced through the moment. I opened my eyes to find that the Xu Jiachen had stepped back. He looked at me, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, "You looked really beautiful just now." My cheeks flushed, and I dared not meet his gaze.
The boss approached, "That performance was truly amazing! I watched the whole thing from the side and was really moved by you both!"
"This young lady, your performance was outstanding!" I felt a bit shy from the praise and replied, "Thank you..."
The Xu Jiachen looked at me and smiled, "Your performance was indeed great."
When the script games ended, it suddenly started pouring outside. I watched as the rain soaked the Xu Jiachen, feeling a pang of concern.
"You didn't bring an umbrella, did you?" He nodded.
"Then let me drive you home." He nodded again, "Okay." We walked together to the parking lot.
Once in the car, he sneezed. "You're all wet; you might catch a cold."
"Let's go to my place for a hot shower," I suggested. He quickly agreed, "Sure."
He seemed like the type who takes time to warm up but once comfortable, he opens up easily. As I drove, he suddenly said, "Let me sing you a song."
"Sure!"
Without any accompaniment, he began to sing a demo without lyrics. The melody was lovely, and I couldn't help but hum along a few lines.
He looked at me in surprise and said, "You understand music too?"
"I can hum a little, but I have no sense of pitch."
He smiled at me and replied, "You're being modest; you sing very well."
I felt a bit embarrassed under his gaze and quickly changed the subject, "Where do you live?"
" Huating Yayuan."
I was taken aback.
That was a well-known wealthy area in the city.
Could he be some rich second-generation kid?
When we arrived at my house, he looked at the place in surprise and said, "Your house is so big."
"It's not that big."
I handed him a towel and said, "You can take a hot shower while I make some ginger tea."
In front of me, he took off his shirt.
I quickly turned my head away.
He suddenly asked me, "Do you want to join me?"
I felt extremely awkward and replied, "No, it's fine..."
The sound of water came from the bathroom.
I stared blankly at the television, but my eyes kept drifting toward the bathroom.
After twenty minutes, he came out wrapped in a towel.
There were still droplets of water on his body.
His hair was wet and dripping as well.
He looked at me with a smile at the corner of his mouth and asked, "What are you looking at?"
I shifted my gaze away and said, "Nothing."
He sat down beside me, and the faint scent of wood from him made me feel a bit dizzy.
"What time is it now?"
I picked up my phone to check, "It's eleven o'clock."
"It's already so late?"
I looked at him and said, "Hurry up and dry off; I'll take you home."
He looked at me and replied, "The heavy rain outside has just stopped; do you think I can go back now?"
I paused for a moment.
Oh right, it was still raining outside.
Although it wasn't as big as before, it was still not suitable for driving.
I hesitated and asked, "So... are you staying here tonight?"
He nodded, "It seems that's the only option."
I felt a mix of emotions.
In the dead of night, leaving a man I had just met not long ago in my home was a first for me.
I was nervous.
Both excited and scared.
As if sensing my unease, Xu Jiachen took my hand and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Why are you afraid of me?"
I shook my head, "I'm not afraid of you..."
"Then why can't you look at me?"
I raised my gaze to him, "I'm not avoiding looking at you..."
He stared into my eyes, "Then why can't you admit that you like me?"
My heart skipped a beat.
I didn't expect him to be so straightforward.
I gritted my teeth and said, "When did I ever say I liked you?"
His brows furrowed, "Earlier today, I said I liked you, and you didn't deny it."
"I..."
I lowered my head, unsure how to respond.
Because I truly had never been in a relationship.
From childhood to now, I had spent my time studying, practicing piano, and learning various skills.
I had no time for romance.
And I had never encountered a boy who made my heart flutter.
So, in twenty-four years, I had never tasted the flavor of love.
