Green Lotus thought for a moment and said, "The letter also mentioned someone named 'Ayan.' It seems the original owner had a close relationship with him, as the letter referred to him as 'Ayan' in a very intimate tone."
"Ayan..." Chu Yunqing murmured. Could this name belong to Xiao Jingyan? But why did Xiao Jingyan know nothing about the original owner's affairs?
"Green Lotus, send someone to investigate and see if anyone in the palace knows the name 'Ayan,'" Chu Yunqing opened her eyes, a glimmer of determination flashing in them.
"Your servant obeys," Green Lotus replied and left.
Chu Yunqing sat alone at the dressing table, gazing at her stunning reflection in the mirror, yet her heart was filled with confusion and unease. She didn't know how to survive in this unfamiliar world, nor did she know if she could find a way back.
As night fell and the lights began to shine, the entire palace was enveloped in a golden glow.
Xiao Jingyan arrived at Fengyi Palace as promised, where Chu Yunqing had already arranged a lavish dinner.
"Your Majesty, please try this Eight Treasure Duck. I specially instructed the Imperial Kitchen to prepare it according to your taste," Chu Yunqing personally served the dishes to Xiao Jingyan, her face adorned with a gentle smile.
Xiao Jingyan looked at the exquisite dishes before him and then at Chu Yunqing's clear, water-like eyes. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. He had been doubting Chu Yunqing lately and had been somewhat neglectful towards her, yet she showed no signs of resentment and instead cared for him even more attentively.
"My beloved consort has worked hard," Xiao Jingyan said as he picked up his chopsticks and took a piece of duck meat into his mouth, savoring it carefully.
"I'm glad you like it," Chu Yunqing felt relieved when she saw Xiao Jingyan's calm demeanor. While dining with him, she discreetly observed his expressions, trying to find any clues from his subtle movements.
However, Xiao Jingyan remained as calm as ever, revealing no signs of weakness.
Dinner ended in what seemed to be a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
After Xiao Jingyan left, Chu Yunqing's smile instantly vanished.
"Green Lotus, have you found out anything?"
Green Lotus shook her head and replied softly, "Replying to the Empress, I have sent people to inquire everywhere, but it seems no one in the palace knows the name 'Ayan.'"
Chu Yunqing furrowed her brows. Could it be that 'Ayan' was not someone from the palace?
"Continue investigating. We must find out who this 'Ayan' is!"
"Yes, Empress." Green Lotus accepted the order and left.
Chu Yunqing stood alone by the window, gazing at the bright moon in the night sky, her heart filled with melancholy and confusion.
She did not know what fate awaited her...
Chu Yunqing wearily rubbed her temples, her thoughts racing. Outside, the night deepened, and a full moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery frost over the window frame. "Ayan..." she murmured softly; this name was like a key trying to unlock the shackles of her original memories, yet it slipped away quietly before she could grasp the truth.
"Empress, you should rest now." Green Lotus entered with a calming herbal soup. Seeing Chu Yunqing's furrowed brow filled her eyes with concern. "You haven't had a proper rest all day; if this continues, your health will deteriorate."
Chu Yunqing took the bowl of soup and sipped lightly, the bitter taste spreading in her mouth. "Green Lotus, do you think there are really two people in this world who resemble each other so closely?" She set down the bowl, her gaze distant, as if she were speaking to herself.
"Your Highness means..." Green Lotus looked at Chu Yunqing in confusion, not understanding the meaning behind her words.
"Nothing." Chu Yunqing shook her head, suppressing the doubts in her heart. "You can go rest now; I want to be alone for a while."
Seeing this, Green Lotus did not ask further and bowed before exiting, gently closing the door behind her.
The room was left with only Chu Yunqing. She got up and walked to the window, gazing out at the night sky, her thoughts swirling.
The original owner's memories were fragmented and vague; apart from that blood letter, she could hardly find any useful information. The identity of "Ayan," the secrets discovered by the original owner, and the reason for her crossing over all felt like a thick fog that surrounded her tightly, making it hard for her to breathe.
Chu Yunqing took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Since there were no clues, she would create some. She refused to believe that in this palace, there was truly no trace of that person!
