A man was dressed in a sharp suit, with a pair of silver-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, giving him a refined yet sexy appearance.
"Hello, I am Pei Chenyi."
I was slightly taken aback but quickly regained my composure and extended my hand to shake his. "Hello, I am Li Xinyao."
Du Mei, standing beside us, covered her mouth and chuckled softly. "Xiaoyao, Pei Chenyi is the popular king of Baili Mall and a star clerk for Hena Brand. Usually, you have to queue just to see him. I had to beg my boyfriend for a long time before he agreed to introduce you."
I was speechless. This person did not resemble Qin Jin at all. However, since I was already here, I decided to observe for now.
Pei Chenyi seemed to notice my disappointment and raised an eyebrow. "It seems Miss Li is not very pleased?"
I quickly waved my hand. "No, no, I'm very happy to meet you."
Pei Chenyi smiled satisfactorily. "That's good. Today, I'll treat everyone; feel free to browse around, and I'll cover all expenses."
As expected of a brand star clerk, he was generous right from the start. Even Du Mei couldn't help but whisper in my ear, "Although he's not as good as Qin Jin, he's still pretty decent."
I couldn't help but facepalm.
After about an hour of shopping, our group of four arrived at a café to take a break.
As soon as we sat down, Pei Chenyi's phone started ringing incessantly, filled with calls and messages from female customers, including quite a few from other brands' clients.
I couldn't help but marvel at how popular he was. However, Pei Chenyi took his work seriously; he patiently answered every call and addressed each question diligently. Before long, he had managed to resolve several difficult customer issues.
I couldn't help but look at him with newfound respect.
After hanging up the phone, Pei Chenyi winked at me. "So? Are you enchanted by me?"
My face flushed. "Not at all."
Pei Chenyi chuckled lightly and suddenly leaned closer to me. "Then why are you blushing when it comes to Qin Jin?"
I felt my face turn even redder. "What do you mean I blushed at Qin Jin?"
Pei Chenyi remained noncommittal. "You mentioned him at least three times during the phone call just now."
I was slightly taken aback. Was it that obvious?
Pei Chenyi suddenly sighed. "Ah, it's really sad. I mean, I don't look any worse than Qin Jin, so why don't you like me?"
Du Mei and Zhang Qiang nearby were already laughing heartily.
I immediately felt extremely embarrassed and could only grab the coffee on the table and take a big gulp to try to cover up my flustered state.
But Pei Chenyi had no intention of letting me off the hook. "Actually, I quite like you too. How about we give it a try?"
I nearly spat out the coffee in my mouth.
Pei Chenyi quickly reached out to pat my back. "Be careful, no one is competing with you."
His large, warm hand gently patted my back, making me feel uncomfortable all over.
"I'm fine."
I quickly dodged his hand, secretly marveling at how Pei Chenyi truly lived up to being a brand celebrity; his flirting skills were indeed top-notch.
It had been two days since I last saw Pei Chenyi after our blind date.
However, during these two days, I had been thinking about another person.
"Yao Yao, why aren't you going down for lunch yet?"
It was my colleague, Li Wen.
She was dressed in a dark green work uniform, her face adorned with exquisite makeup, looking elegant and confident.
I glanced at the time on my phone; it was already noon. No wonder Li Wen came to call me down for lunch.
I quickly stood up. "I'll go down right now, thank you, Wen Jie."
Li Wen smiled and suddenly leaned closer to me, whispering, "Yao Yao, do you know why Manager Qin Jin isn't coming down for lunch today?"
I was slightly taken aback and shook my head. "No idea, why?"
Li Wen glanced towards the hallway to ensure no one was around before continuing, "I heard there are some internal issues at the company that Manager Qin Jin is dealing with. He probably won't be down for a while."
I nodded and thought to myself that the title of "workplace killer" should belong to Qin Jin.
"I'm going to go eat now."
"Okay."
Watching Li Wen leave, I couldn't help but start looking forward to the business negotiation with Qin Jin.
However, what I didn't expect was that Manager Qin Jin seemed to have already forgotten about our previous interaction.
In the following days, I tried calling Du Mei to inquire about the arrangements for the business negotiation, but Du Mei told me that she and Zhang Qiang were about to terminate their partnership.
I immediately felt a wave of disappointment.
It seemed that this business negotiation was destined to end without any results.
