Liang Yuan expressionlessly opened the car door and sat inside.
"Let's go back to the company," she said to the driver, her gaze still fixed on the couple in the rearview mirror.
The driver nodded and started the car. Liang Yuan put down her phone, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil of emotions within her.
"President Liang, are you alright?" Xiao Li, sitting in the passenger seat, asked with concern in his voice, tinged with a hint of worry.
Liang Yuan opened her eyes, forced a smile, and shook her head to indicate that she was fine.
"First, take me home. The afternoon meeting has been postponed until tomorrow morning."
"Okay," Xiao Li replied, then took out his phone to contact the company and notify them of the rescheduling.
The car drove through the rain, with blurred street scenes outside the window. However, Liang Yuan's thoughts drifted back ten years to that sunny afternoon when Bai Ye knelt on one knee with flowers in hand, proposing to her. He had been so sincere and so affectionate at that moment, and she had felt so happy, so hopeful about spending a lifetime with him.
Yet today, ten years later, they had reached an end. What had happened during these ten years?
The image of that mysterious woman flashed in Liang Yuan's mind—the name that frequently appeared on Bai Ye's phone, the person who had made her completely lose hope in this marriage.
At this thought, her heart felt as if it were being pricked by needles, a wave of sharp pain coursing through her. She tightly closed her eyes, trying to drive those images from her mind.
"President Liang, we have arrived," Xiao Li's voice pulled Liang Yuan back from her memories.
She opened her eyes and looked at the familiar scenery outside the window. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to gather her spirits, pushed open the car door, and stepped out.
"Take it slow, watch your step," Xiao Li said, holding an umbrella and carefully assisting me.
Liang Yuan nodded and stepped into the house.
"Please rest for a moment; I'll get you a glass of water," Xiao Li said as she set down her bag and turned to head into the kitchen.
Liang Yuan walked into the bedroom and lay down on the bed weakly. Her mind was racing with thoughts, yet she couldn't find peace.
Knock, knock, knock.
The sound of knocking came as Xiao Li entered with a glass of water. Seeing her lying on the bed, she asked with concern, "If you're not feeling well, should I take you to the hospital?"
I shook my head, took the glass of water, sipped it, and softly said, "I'm fine. You can go back now; I want to be alone for a while."
Xiao Li nodded and turned to leave the room, gently closing the door behind her.
Liang Yuan set down the glass of water and closed her eyes again. The room was silent except for the sound of rain pattering outside, as if it were telling the story of her sorrow.

The familiar scent of perfume mixed with the dampness after the rain filled her nostrils. Liang Yuan suddenly opened her eyes and sat up in bed with a start.
"President Liang, you finally woke up. I thought..." Xiao Li's voice trailed off as the nightgown she was holding slipped from her hands to the floor.
Liang Yuan then realized she was still wearing yesterday's work outfit. She rubbed her temples and hoarsely asked, "What time is it?"
"It's already eight in the morning. Do you want to...?"
"No need, cancel my appointments for this morning. I'm going straight to the office," Liang Yuan interrupted Xiao Li, throwing off the covers and heading straight to the wardrobe.
Xiao Li followed closely behind, her tone anxious. "But you've hardly rested for two days now. If this continues..."
