Neil's gaze turned to Erin, and he couldn't help but feel a shock in his heart. Erin stood there with a kind of indescribable temperament. Her deep blue eyes seemed to be able to penetrate his soul, yet made him feel surprisingly comfortable. He noticed her flowing deep brown long hair, naturally hanging on her shoulders, as well as her simple black tight top and gray long skirt. Despite the simple attire, Erin didn't need any elaborate decorations to attract the attention of the entire room.
When Erin smiled at him, Neil felt a wave of warmth. Even in such an important and slightly nervous moment, her smile made him feel like all problems could be solved. He knew that this woman not only possessed a high level of professionalism, but also had a charm and wisdom that emanated from within.
"Nice to meet you, Erin," Neil finally spoke, somewhat incoherently.
Erin responded to his greeting, smiling, "I'm equally pleased to meet you, Neil. I look forward to us completing this exciting journey together."
Neil felt a surge of excitement in his heart. He knew that with such a mentor, his upcoming journey to The Eye of the Philosopher would be filled with endless possibilities and challenges. And he was willing to accept it all.
" Erin has over ten years of experience in this industry. She will guide you to familiarize yourself with our workflow and teach you how to become an excellent observer," said Macol, glancing at Erin as if implying that she would be responsible for everything related to Neil from now on.
"Understood, Macol. I will teach him well," Erin responded, then looked at Neil. "Are you ready to embrace a whole new challenge?"
Neil took a deep breath, feeling a passion burning in his chest. "Absolutely ready."
"Very well, let's begin," Erin said with a smile.
Erin led Neil to stand in front of a huge metal door, embedded with blue glowing characters that read "Cosmic Crevice." These words appeared mysterious and profound under the light blue glow, filling the onlookers with anticipation and curiosity about the place they were about to enter.
In front of the door, there is an advanced facial recognition system and fingerprint scanner installed. Obviously, this is a highly confidential and strictly controlled area. The lighting in the entire corridor is relatively dim, only used to emphasize the few glowing words on the door. It doesn't look like a door to a laboratory, but more like a gateway to another universe.
Everything gives a feeling of the fusion of future technology and the supernatural, making Neil unable to help but think of those cutting-edge technologies described in science fiction novels. He feels a mix of nervousness and excitement, as this will be his first step into exploring the unknown, entering a place where he can glimpse the Multiverse and even change humanity's understanding of the essence of existence.
The security check behind the metal door was very quick, but also extremely strict. After facial scanning and fingerprint verification, the door slowly slid open, revealing the interior of the laboratory.
Upon entering, Neil felt as if he had entered a completely different world. The spacious laboratory was illuminated by cold light, and every corner was filled with a sense of technology. Various complex pipelines and fixtures hung from the high ceiling, while the floor was made of a special alloy, scattered with various highly advanced instruments and equipment.
The most surprising thing for him was those observation decks. They were like individual small theaters, each equipped with a reclining seat and a huge observation screen. These cabins were all placed on a semicircular floor, making it easy for the operator to monitor each observation activity from the central control console.
Neil couldn't help but be shocked. These cabins and all they could do were undoubtedly the crystallization of human technology and wisdom. He imagined himself in one of the observation decks, peering into the secrets of parallel universes through those advanced instruments.
At that moment, Erin walked over and stood in front of the central control panel, overlooking all the observation decks, then turned to look at Neil.
"Welcome to the space rift, Neil. This will be the place for your future work and exploration. Are you ready to begin?"
Neil took a deep breath, tightly clenched his fist, and then nodded.
"Yes, I'm ready."
Erin smiled and then began to lead him towards one of the Observation decks, introducing him to the various equipment and operations here, opening up his journey of Multiverse observation.
"Before we begin, I'd like to introduce you to this laboratory. We call it the 'Cosmic Rift,'" Erin paused, letting the name make an impression on Neil.
"Interstellar Void?" Neil asked curiously.
"Yes, this name symbolizes that what we are observing is not just one universe, but the 'voids' or boundaries between countless universes. These 'voids' are the starting point for our observation and study of parallel universes."
Then Erin walked up to a large screen and opened a drawing software. "Let me briefly explain the basic principles of observing parallel universes. First, you need to understand the concept of Multiverse or parallel universes. Simply put, every time we make a choice, the universe splits into a new branch, creating a parallel universe."
She drew a simple tree diagram to illustrate the process of universe splitting. "Our highly advanced Multiverse observation technology allows us to traverse these branches for observation and recording. However, this is very complex, involving various factors such as quantum physics, elastic space, and time variables."
Neil looked at the increasingly complex patterns on the screen and couldn't help but feel a little dizzy.
"Don't worry, you don't need to fully understand these profound principles. As long as you can master the use of these observation devices and follow the ethical standards and regulations of The Eye of the Philosopher, you can become an excellent observer," Erin reassured him.
Neil nodded, feeling a little more at ease. "Thank you, Erin. I will do my best."
"I believe in you, Neil. Now, let's truly begin," Erin smiled and once again opened the control interface of the observation deck.
