Du Yuwei said, "Today he's taking me to meet a client, the one who was adamant about me taking on their project. This client seems quite sophisticated, as we're meeting at Let's Coffee to discuss cooperation."
In the car, Du Yuwei said to me, "The economy has been tough lately, we need to cherish every client."
I understood what he meant - he was telling me to be patient. Could it be that this client is difficult to deal with again?
Du Yuwei reminded me again: "The competition in our industry is so intense, isn't it?"

He looked at me with a smile.
Du Yuwei gestured with his eyes, do you know him?
I shook my head.
He spoke up and said, "I am the manager here. Last time, I even treated you to coffee. Don't you remember?" It turned out that he had directly comped our bill last time. I awkwardly smiled and said, "Oh, I remember, I remember."
Why does he want to give us a free meal?
"I won't disturb you, call me if you need anything."
He looks like he's only seventeen or eighteen, but he's actually the manager of this café. These days, even minors can be so low-key.
Du Yuwei saw him leave and couldn't help but ask me, "You don't even know him, and he still invited you for coffee?"
I couldn't be bothered to explain. It's strange if a man with Du Yuwei's gossipy personality doesn't pry into things.
"As long as you shut up, I'll treat you to coffee today, okay."
Du Yuwei busily smiled and said, "Sure." I knew this guy is a smooth talker. I was sipping coffee and looking at the computer when Du Yuwei got up and walked towards the door, probably because the client had arrived.
I busied myself with tidying up the computer, preparing the materials, and waiting for them to come in. I hoped that today I could secure this deal in one go.
The client was a man, dressed in a black suit, slightly taller than Du Yuwei. The two of them walked in side by side. Because Du Yuwei was on the right, blocking his face, I couldn't see his features at all.
It wasn't until the two of them approached that I realized it was none other than Wang Ze.
At that moment, I was not only confused but also burning with anger.
Du Yuwei is shameless, actually taking Wang Ze's order as well.
Du Yuwei sat down next to me with a smug smile, while Wang Ze sat across from me.
Wang Ze took the lead and said, " Xiao Meng, the reason I didn't tell you is because I was afraid you would get upset. Our work is work, and personal matters are not to be discussed."
Du Yuwei chimed in, "That's right, Xiao Meng. Wang Ze just got back and is not familiar with the place, so..."
I didn't respond to Du Yuwei and didn't show much anger, just said lightly, "Okay, it's work. Let's get to the point."
"It's like this, I just returned to Rongcheng and rented an office building. It's a new building, completely unrenovated...."
After he finished speaking, I questioned, "Aren't you also studying design? Why don't you just do it yourself."
He wasn't upset, but patiently explained, "I have too much on my plate, how could I manage it all? I trust leaving it to you all."
Me: "But our company specializes in landscape design, not interior design."
Du Yuwei quickly interrupted me: "We are also taking on interior design projects now."
I gave him a disdainful look. Even though we could do it, there's a difference between being proficient and being able to handle it with ease, just like how landscape design is more in line with our expertise.
Du Yuwei looked at me and smiled falsely: "I am recruiting new employees, don't worry, I won't make you work too hard."
I sighed and didn't want to argue with him. I lifted my head and looked out the window, not saying anything.
Du Yuwei and Wang Ze were talking about cooperation, but I had no interest in what they were saying.
My heart is in turmoil, not because of any lingering feelings for Wang Ze, after all, the breakup was so ugly, and I am averse to seeing each other frequently.
Since Du Yuwei wants to take on this order, he can handle it himself. I won't interfere.
Wang Ze has been asking for my opinion, but I just respond with a noncommittal "mm-hmm" and offer no further answers.
Even if you have to bend down for a measly five bushels of rice, there should still be a limit.
"Okay, let's sign the contract when you have time."
But Wang Ze's eyes glanced at me and he said, "Okay."
Finally, when their conversation ended, I got up, grabbed my laptop bag, and said, "I said I would pay, don't argue with me." Without waiting for Du Yuwei to agree, I went straight to the bar. Since I said I would treat, I had to keep my word. As I walked over, I noticed that the young man from earlier seemed to have been watching our direction the whole time. When he saw me approaching, he greeted me with a smile, "Miss Ling, leaving so soon?"
"Um."
As I took out my wallet, I asked, "How much?"
"90 yuan."
I was taken aback. The price is wrong. It clearly says 45 yuan per cup on the label, but the way he's calculating it is obviously wrong.
"You don't have to pay."
"Why?"
"He scratched his head, 'I just can't accept it.'
His attitude towards me is too enthusiastic. But we don't even know each other.
'Those two over there, I can't help but pay for them.' He pursed his lips, indicating that he still had to pay for Du Yuwei and Wang Ze's coffee."
I couldn't help but laugh at his expression, "You're quite interesting, what should I call you?"
"I am surnamed Jiang, Jiang Qingyuan." He showed his white teeth, a youthful and innocent face with the maturity of an adult.
I nodded, "Boss Jiang, next time you can't give me a free meal. Otherwise, I would feel embarrassed to consume at your place."
He shrugged, "Alright."
Wang Ze didn't leave, but waited for me at the door. I took a few steps and saw him, then turned back and asked Jiang Qingyuan, "Is there a back door here?"
Jiang Qingyuan was sly, "Are you hiding from that man?"
This little devil can't be fooled by anything. He grinned and said, "Follow me." He took me out from the back, and at the door, he suddenly said to me, "That person really isn't right for you." I was stunned, "You, a little kid, sure do meddle a lot."
He pursed his lips, frowned, and said, "You and the last one seemed quite suitable."
Huh? I slipped with the notebook in my hand, feeling dazed by his words. Is he very familiar with Zhou Heng?
He smiled mysteriously, while I was completely puzzled.
Just as I took a few steps, Du Yuwei's phone call came in.
"Ling Xiaomeng, did you slip away?"
I answered irritably, "I didn't slip away, I left."
Du Yuwei: "You, with your stubborn temper, Wang Ze is still waiting for you here."
I firmly said, "Tell him not to wait for me."
I hung up the phone. Stubbornness is one part, but the main thing is, we will never go back to the way we were. We are like two lines that once crossed, but after a reunion, will never intersect again.
