A pair of eyes stared at her in the dark night, hidden anger simmering within.

The next morning, Gu Yuniang was awakened early and dressed in a set of Maid clothing, then taken to the main hall.
Consort Li sat high above, watching Gu Yuniang, who stood there looking bewildered and at a loss. A cruel smile curled at the corners of her lips, "Haven't you learned to be smart yet? When you see your master, you should greet them. Hong'er, teach her the rules properly!"
Gu Yuniang was taken aback; she had never been one to pay attention to such details and often forgot these formalities! In her modern mindset, deeply rooted in the belief that everyone is equal, where was the need for greetings?
Upon hearing this, she gritted her teeth and was about to bow to Consort Li, but Hong'er, the consort's personal maid, had already marched up to her and slapped her hard across the face. The blow made her head spin, and her already punished body swayed unsteadily in the hall.

"This servant pays her respects to Your Majesty!" she said softly, feeling a pang of bitterness in her heart.
Consort Li was both surprised and delighted; this was the first time the Emperor had come to see her right after court!
"I wish to pay my respects to Your Majesty!"
"My beloved consort, please rise!" Tian Feiyao did not even glance at the frail figure with her head bowed, his eyes filled with warmth as he looked at Consort Li. This made Consort Li's heart feel sweet as honey.
"Why aren't you quick to prepare tea for His Majesty?" Consort Li coldly ordered Gu Yuniang, who was truly a nuisance here. After Gu Yuniang left, she exchanged a knowing glance with Hong'er, who immediately understood and stayed behind to leave the two alone in the hall.
"Does Your Majesty have any worries? You can share them with me," she asked, noticing the fatigue that could not be concealed in Tian Feiyao's brows, feeling a twinge of concern.
"Consort Li, you are the only one in the six palaces who understands my thoughts! Therefore, I cherish you the most!" Tian Feiyao said with a relaxed brow and infinite affection.
"Your Majesty, I have always known. My loyalty to you is unwavering!" Hearing this made Consort Li feel overwhelmed with emotion.
"But what about your family? Your father has long been stationed at the border with a strong army; how can I be sure he harbors no ill intentions?" Tian Feiyao's expression changed instantly, becoming cold as frost.
Consort Li was so frightened that she fell to her knees with a thud, panicking as she said, "Your Majesty, my father has served Dayue all his life, dedicating himself completely; how could he have any ulterior motives?"
"Please rise! Consort Li, do you know that there are already many officials in court speaking ill of your father, claiming he is amassing power at the border? How can I bear this?" His indifferent words carried a hint of mockery, making Consort Li's heart chill further; she dared not move.
"Your Majesty, this must be other officials framing my father; you must not believe them!" She urgently tried to explain, but her heart grew increasingly anxious.
"In a few days, the Empress Dowager will return to Yunyang, and your father will also come back for the State Banquet. Perhaps you and your family have a way to express your sincerity!" Tian Feiyao gently said while helping Consort Li up.
"Who? Get in here!" Tian Feiyao's expression suddenly changed, coldly glancing towards the door with a voice full of anger.
Gu Yuniang took a deep breath to calm herself, holding two cups of tea as she strode in.
"What did you hear?" Consort Li asked through gritted teeth upon seeing Gu Yuniang.
"I didn't hear anything!" Gu Yuniang replied fearlessly, lying with wide-open eyes, even though she had heard everything.
She stepped forward and placed the two cups of tea on the table, just about to leave. Consort Li looked at her, a cruel glint flashing in her eyes as if she wanted to vent all the grievances she had just suffered. She suddenly grabbed the steaming tea from the table and threw it fiercely at Gu Yuniang, splashing hot water everywhere and instantly causing several large blisters to form on her hand.
At the doorway, Hong'er heard the commotion inside and rushed in. Upon seeing the scene, she immediately knelt down and pleaded for mercy, "Please forgive me, Your Majesty. This lowly servant has failed in her duties; I will teach her the palace rules properly!"
Tian Feiyao looked at Gu Yuniang with a cold gaze as if seeing a stranger, completely indifferent. "Get out of here!"
Gu Yuniang stood frozen in place, her eyes reddening. She bowed slightly but was pushed away by Hong'er. This cold-hearted and calculating emperor was no longer her A-Yao. Why couldn't she let go?
In reality, she had been deceiving herself; staying here was merely an excuse to be closer to him...
As she reached the door, a sound from inside made her tears flow uncontrollably.

After being humiliated by Hong'er for a while, Gu Yuniang was punished with a day without food. Once that annoying woman left, she slipped out of Li Ying Palace.
She found Imperial Prosperity Hall, which was the emperor's sleeping quarters.
The Gatekeeper Eunuch saw her as just a lowly Maid and did not allow her to enter. With no other choice, she had to shout at the door, "Yunxin... Yunxin..."
"What are you doing here?" A cold voice floated in from behind her. She stiffened and slowly turned around, "This servant greets Your Majesty!"
Although she referred to herself as a servant, Tian Feiyao saw no trace of servility in her eyes. He let out a cold snort, "Come in with me!"
Gu Yuniang looked at his imposing figure and without any hesitation, strode inside.
As soon as she entered the empty hall, she felt a chilling wind sweep past.
"May I ask why Your Majesty called this servant in?" She stood firmly at the entrance and said coldly. Suddenly, her vision blurred, and her body was firmly trapped in someone's embrace.
Because they were too close, she could even feel his scorching breath against her face, making her feel both shy and angry. "What are you doing?"
Tian Feiyao's lips curled into a wicked smile. "A man and a woman alone in a room—what do you think I want to do?" He didn't even realize that he had used "I" instead of "we."
Gu Yuniang felt momentarily dazed but quickly forced herself to regain composure. She sneered, "You are the Emperor; of course, I cannot resist whatever you want to do! Besides, this isn't the first time you've done something like this!"
"Are you mocking me?" Tian Feiyao's anger flared as he grabbed her wrist.
"This servant wouldn't dare!" Gu Yuniang replied sarcastically, which sounded even more grating to Tian Feiyao.
"Haha!" He suddenly burst into laughter and leaned down to whisper in Gu Yuniang's ear, "You want to find Luo Qingyun to inquire about your husband's whereabouts, right? And what about your old man?"
