The nurse saw Ye Jingzhu standing there in a daze and impatiently said, "Are you going to take your medicine or not?"
"I won't take it, I won't take it," Ye Jingzhu waved her hands, trying to knock the medicine out of the nurse's hand.
"You don't get to decide," the nurse shouted towards the door, "Come help me."
As soon as she finished speaking, two sturdy nurses walked in from outside.
Seeing them approaching, Ye Jingzhu took a few steps back and asked, "What do you want to do?"
"If you don't obediently take your medicine, we'll make you take it," the nurse replied. "Hold her down."
"Yes," the two sturdy nurses immediately stepped forward, each grabbing one of Ye Jingzhu's arms and pinning her down.
"Let me go," Ye Jingzhu shouted. "I'm not sick, I'm not sick."
"Quick, get the medicine down her throat," the nurse instructed.
When Ye Jingzhu saw the nurse coming toward her with the medicine, she shook her head and said, "I don't want to take it, I don't want to take it."
"You have to take it whether you want to or not." The nurse ruthlessly pinched Ye Jingzhu's chin and shoved the medicine into her mouth.
"Ugh ugh ugh." Ye Jingzhu didn't want to swallow the pills; she pushed them out with her tongue, refusing to take them.
Seeing that Ye Jingzhu was still unwilling to swallow the pills, the nurse picked up a cup of water and poured it into her mouth.
Ye Jingzhu choked and coughed; she felt the pills wash down her throat with the water. She stuck her fingers into her mouth, trying to dig out the pills.
"Alright," the nurse said. "Let her go."
Ye Jingzhu's legs went weak, and she fell to the ground. She kept using her fingers to scratch at her throat and gagged, wanting to throw up the pills.
"It's useless," the nurse said. "Even if you throw them up, you'll still have to take a second dose."
"Why?" Ye Jingzhu raised tear-filled eyes at the nurse.
"Because you're mentally ill," the nurse replied. "Now let's go."
"I'm not mentally ill," Ye Jingzhu yelled at the nurse's back.
She knew that no matter how much she explained, it would be useless.
She sat on the ground, knowing that the pills she had swallowed were powerful medications for mental illness. If she took this medication every day, she would truly become schizophrenic. She did not want to become schizophrenic. She curled up, burying her face between her knees, unsure of what to do. All she felt was an increasing pain in her head, and eventually, everything went black as she fainted.
When she woke up, she found herself still lying on the ground, watching as a nurse administered more medication to her. She did not want to cause trouble or suffer; she became obedient and cooperated with the nurse to take her medicine. After a few days, she noticed that sometimes she would talk to herself, realizing this was a result of the medication. She smiled bitterly, never expecting to become a madwoman.
That day, Su Mengman came to visit Ye Jingzhu. Ye Jingzhu was somewhat surprised; she had not expected Su Mengman to come see her. "Mom, why are you here?" Ye Jingzhu asked as she sat on the edge of the bed.
"Don't call me Mom," Su Mengman said coldly. "I have no daughter as useless as you."
"Mom, why would you say that?" Ye Jingzhu was taken aback by Su Mengman's words.
"Why wouldn't I say that?" Su Mengman sneered. "When you married into the Shen Family, I told you to hold onto Shen Xingyu's heart tightly, but did you manage to do that?"
"I..." Ye Jingzhu was at a loss for words.
"It's bad enough that you're useless; you've even caused so many problems," Su Mengman said angrily. "How could I adopt such a worthless person like you?"
"Mom, just go home," Ye Jingzhu said, not wanting to hear any more of Su Mengman's insults.
