Shen Xingyu helped Ye Jingzhu to the bathroom. Ye Jingzhu closed the bathroom door and sat on the toilet, tears streaming down her face. She touched her belly; her kidney was gone, and she only had a month left. She could not just give up like this. Wiping away her tears, she vowed to make Du Qiaoyun pay the price.
She stood up and opened the bathroom door. Shen Xingyu was still standing outside, and when he saw Ye Jingzhu come out, he immediately supported her.
"Shen Xingyu," Ye Jingzhu said, looking at him, "I've made up my mind. I can divorce you, but I have one condition."
"What condition?" Shen Xingyu asked impatiently.
"I want to wait a month before signing the papers," Ye Jingzhu replied.
"Ye Jingzhu, what are you trying to pull now?" Shen Xingyu looked at her displeased.
"Shen Xingyu," Ye Jingzhu said weakly, "Du Qiaoyun's kidney failure—doctors said she needs a transplant. But my kidney has already been removed; it has been fed to dogs by Du Qiaoyun."
"Ye Jingzhu," Shen Xingyu said in disbelief, "don't lie to me anymore; I won't believe you again."
"Shen Xingyu, I'm not lying," Ye Jingzhu said urgently. "My kidney has been taken out, and I don't have much time left. I just want to be your wife for one more month; can't you fulfill this wish for me?"
Shen Xingyu fell silent, staring at Ye Jingzhu as he contemplated her words.
"Shen Xingyu, I only have one month left to live," Ye Jingzhu cried uncontrollably. "Am I going to lose even that?"
"Alright," Shen Xingyu nodded gently. "I'll give you a month."
"Thank you," Ye Jingzhu lowered her head, a smile appearing at the corners of her mouth.
Shen Xingyu stayed for a while longer before leaving the ICU ward. Once he saw him leave, Ye Jingzhu finally broke down and sobbed loudly. Shen Xingyu walked out of the hospital and returned to his apartment.
In the late night, he heard the sound of the door opening, and he knew it was Du Qiaoyun who had arrived.
"Xingyu." Du Qiaoyun, dressed in a white lace nightgown, hugged Shen Xingyu's waist. "You came back so late."
"I went to the hospital to see Ye Jingzhu," Shen Xingyu said calmly.
"What?" Du Qiaoyun immediately released Shen Xingyu and said unhappily, "Why did you go see her?"
"She signed the divorce agreement," Shen Xingyu replied.
"Really?" Du Qiaoyun was very happy. "She finally agreed to sign."
"But she wants to sign it again in a month," Shen Xingyu said with some difficulty.
"Why?" Du Qiaoyun asked in confusion. "Isn't it better for her to sign now?"
"She said she wants us to be married for a month," Shen Xingyu explained. "After all, she doesn't have much time left."
"She doesn't have much time left?" Du Qiaoyun looked at Shen Xingyu in surprise. "What do you mean?"
"Her kidney has been removed," Shen Xingyu said calmly. "She won't live much longer."
"Oh." Du Qiaoyun felt secretly pleased; she had finally gotten rid of Ye Jingzhu, that nuisance.
"Qiao Yun." Shen Xingyu embraced Du Qiaoyun and said softly, "I can finally marry you."
"Yes." Du Qiaoyun nodded happily.
"I'm really so happy." Shen Xingyu drank a lot because of his joy.
After getting drunk, he held Du Qiaoyun and murmured, "Jingzhu, Jingzhu."
Du Qiaoyun's expression changed; she pushed Shen Xingyu away and looked at him angrily. It turned out that the person he wanted to marry because of his happiness was not her, but Ye Jingzhu.
He had never loved her. The person he always wanted to marry was Ye Jingzhu.
Du Qiaoyun clenched her fists; she would not let such a thing happen. She had to become Mrs. Shen as soon as possible to avoid any complications later on.
