I never expected to be pushed into the abyss at my son's Full Moon Banquet. Yang Mo stood on the stage, his smile gentle, resembling the oil painting hanging in our home—seemingly humble and refined, yet ambitious at heart. He cleared his throat and announced, "Today, I have some news to share."
"We are all changing our surname back to Yang."
I staggered slightly, nearly falling over. He had resolutely changed his surname to marry me. It was only then that my father felt secure enough to hand over the company and his daughter to him. Now, he controlled everything and was about to kick me aside.
Yang Mo stepped down from the stage and walked toward me. My fingers tightened around the wine glass until they turned white, and I gritted my teeth, asking, "Why?"
"Because I want a divorce."
The glass shattered on the floor, wine splattering onto my dress, staining it dark. Yang Mo smiled slightly and said, "Shiyu, I'm sorry, but you've occupied the Shi for too long."
Indeed, I had occupied the Shi for too long. So now, at my son's first birthday banquet, he announced that he was changing back to Yang, and my daughter was informed by her biological father at the Full Moon Banquet that our family was reverting to Yang.
Ironically, I learned this news from someone else. I raised a glass of wine and gulped it down. The cold liquid slid down my throat, bringing me a bit of calm.
On stage, Yang Mo clapped his hands and said, "Next, I want to announce some good news."
"My son Yang Mo's grandson Zhang Rui will become the heir of the Shi."
Oh my God, there was an uproar in the audience. My son had just turned one month old and was already being named an heir.
But who doesn't know that this is just a puppet of Yang Mo? Yang Mo is the one who controls the Shi.
The applause thundered from the audience. I looked at my daughter sitting alone in the crowd, ignored by everyone. Yang Mo's gaze swept over her, and he whispered to me, "Shiyu, we need to look forward. Mingyuan has just turned one month old; his journey is still long."
"As for Mingyue, being a girl, it's enough for her to study a little; she doesn't need to read so much."
I tightened my grip on the wine glass, the veins on the back of my hand bulging. I stared into his eyes and asked, "What if I say no?"
Yang Mo scoffed, "Shiyu, your words don't count."
"Right now, the entire Shi is in my hands."
I trembled with anger. At that moment, a soft hand grasped mine. I turned to see my daughter Mingyue. She looked at me with determination and said clearly, "Mom, I will always be a part of the Shi Family."
I gazed at this daughter I had always overlooked, feeling my eyes well up with tears. I patted her hand and said, "Good girl."
I walked onto the stage, stood in front of the microphone, and spoke in a deep voice: "Everyone, please be quiet; I have something to say."
"I have no feelings left for Yang Mo; we are officially divorced now."
"Secondly, I am severing ties with Yang Mingyuan and Zhang Rui."
"Finally, I announce that Shi Mingyue will become the heir of Shi Group."
As my voice fell, there was complete silence in the venue.
Everyone was frozen in place.
Yang Mo was the first to react, incredulously asking, "Shiyu, do you know what you're saying?"
I looked at him and replied word by word, "Of course I know."
"Without you, Yang Mo, I can still manage the Shi."
"Without Yang Mingyuan, I still have Shi Mingyue."
That night, I returned to the Shi Family's old residence with Shi Mingyue.
As soon as I entered, I instructed the butler:
"From now on, the power of the Shi Family is entrusted to me and Miss. No one else is allowed in without my permission."
The butler acknowledged and left.
After washing up and changing into comfortable clothes, I wanted to talk to Mingyue.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside.
I walked to the window and saw that it was Yang Mo, Yang Mingyuan, and Zhang Rui returning home together.
