Lin Yaru seemed to be jolted awake, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she looked at Yan Chengjie, reminiscent of Columbus discovering a new continent. She stared intently at him, her gaze filled with eager light that sent shivers down his spine.
"No way! Don't even think about it..." Yan Chengjie said, somewhat annoyed, waving his hand at her while trying to discreetly get up. He thought it would be best to escape this troublesome situation as soon as possible.
What kind of international joke was this? He still had a bright future ahead; how could he let this Little Witch tie him down?! It was all his own fault for opening his mouth!
"You! Yan Chengjie! Stop right there!" Lin Yaru called out sharply, halting him in his tracks.
"I have an important meeting to attend and a pile of documents waiting for my signature."
"Just give me one word, and you can go. I won’t stop you," Lin Yaru said with a mischievous grin.
"What do you want to say? I'm really busy," Yan Chengjie replied cautiously, deciding it was better to stay calm.
"I want to rent you for a day tomorrow to accompany me home and act as my boyfriend for the day," Lin Yaru said with a sly smile, secretly assessing his appearance. Hmm! With looks like his, he should be able to pass off as her boyfriend.
"I'm not available; I have to fly to the United States tomorrow for the monthly report meeting at the branch office."
"Then how about the day after tomorrow?"
"The day after tomorrow doesn't work either; I need to fly to Europe to inspect the new factory there." Yan Chengjie felt a chill run down his spine, and a bead of cold sweat trickled down his forehead.
"Then the day after tomorrow!"
"Well... I have to visit a client in Canada the day after tomorrow."
"You! You're lying!" Lin Yaru glared at him with her charming eyes, clearly angry.
"I..." Of course, he was lying. After all, who in their right mind would willingly wade into such murky waters? He certainly wouldn't be the exception.
"You... you're really not a friend who shares in hardships. If you don't help me this time, we'll cut ties completely!" Lin Yaru puffed out her cheeks and pouted, looking just like a child preparing to sever ties by cutting her finger.
Yan Chengjie stared at her in a daze, feeling somewhat at a loss. If he were smart, he should have gotten rid of this little demon long ago. However, strangely enough, when he heard her say she would sever ties with him, his heart felt a slight pang; he didn't want to lose such a friend.
Cough! He could only blame himself for choosing friends poorly and getting involved with this Little Witch.
"Fine! I'll go!" Great! Now his date for tomorrow night was ruined! Cough! This date was with someone he found quite appealing.
For the first time, Yan Chengjie experienced what it meant to be on the verge of tears without being able to cry!
Ever since his parents passed away a few years ago and he inherited his father's company, he had navigated the treacherous business world without fear. But at this moment, he was extremely afraid of this Little Witch in front of him. It seemed like her mind was always filled with bizarre ideas that would unexpectedly pop up to torment him.
"Thank you! I really appreciate it!" Ignoring the curious gazes of those around them, Lin Yaru joyfully jumped onto him, hugging him and shouting in excitement.
Although Yan Chengjie stumbled back a few steps from her overwhelming force, he still managed to steady himself and catch this troublesome Little Witch.
"Then it's settled!"
Great! She had finally resolved the major crisis in front of her, and she owed everything to Yan Chengjie for his help, which allowed her to regain her freedom!
Lin Yaru was so overjoyed that she lost herself in the moment and gave Yan Chengjie a loud kiss. She didn't think at all about how this weapon of his childhood charm might make Yan Chengjie feel awkward or shocked.
Yan Chengjie looked at her radiant smile, feeling both surprised and alarmed, though he didn't quite realize there was also a hint of sweetness in it.
Suddenly, a wave of unease washed over him. His sixth sense told him that perhaps he had really gotten himself into big trouble this time...
