Lin Yaru was hindered by the fact that Yan Chengjie had helped her this time. He had agreed to pretend to be engaged to her, which meant she owed him a huge favor. Therefore, she couldn't just slap him for his ill intentions, nor could she lose her temper at him. It seemed she would have to rely on herself to save herself and wait for the right moment to act! "Thank you for your compliment; you also look... great tonight," Lin Yaru stammered, trying to maintain her composure as she subtly created some distance between herself and Yan Chengjie.
"How do you think I performed tonight? Are you satisfied?" Yan Chengjie slowly turned towards her, gazing intently at Lin Yaru's incredibly beautiful, blushing face. She looked stunning tonight! So beautiful that he couldn't take his eyes off her!
She caught a glimpse of the fleeting light in his eyes and the gradually darkening depths of his gaze, which made Lin Yaru feel increasingly flustered. Tonight's Yan Chengjie felt somewhat unfamiliar and left her feeling at a loss.
"Your performance tonight was simply flawless!" Yan Chengjie’s act had led everyone at the Banquet to believe that they were deeply in love and inseparable.
"Then... should I receive some kind of reward for my efforts?!" He stared hungrily at her vibrant cherry-red lips, their pink, plump sheen enticing him and making him feel utterly captivated.
"This... I'll give this to you... no need to thank me."
Flustered, Lin Yaru tossed the box of her beloved Ferrero Chocolate, which her college friends had given her before leaving, directly at Yan Chengjie. She immediately turned to flee.
