A silver Lamborghini sped down the street at nearly one hundred twenty miles per hour. After making a sharp and graceful turn, it smoothly entered the parking lot of the Azure Cloud Hotel, closely followed by a police car with its siren blaring.
"Park it for me!" Yan Chengjie tossed the car keys to the sharply dressed valet. "And please handle the police officer behind us as well." He pulled out his driver's license from his jacket pocket and threw it to him as well.
Yan Chengjie walked briskly but still maintained a composed and elegant demeanor as he made his way to the café located on the second floor. From a distance, he spotted a stunning figure by the window that was impossible to look away from.
"Hi! My dear Ruru!"
A familiar voice that sent shivers down Lin Yaru's spine suddenly rang out behind her, clearly filled with delight.
"What a coincidence!" Yan Chengjie approached Lin Yaru's table with graceful strides, his tall figure moving slowly toward her.
"Yaru, darling?! Oh my! What a disgusting nickname!" Lin Yaru wrinkled her delicate willow-leaf eyebrows and her petite nose in distaste, but the familiarity of his voice set off alarm bells in her heart. Clearly, this uninvited guest was her nemesis!
Lin Yaru's gaze traveled up from his long, straight legs.
"Yan... Chengjie! You... hello!" Lin Yaru forced a weak smile onto her beautiful face as she greeted him.
"What’s this? Having tea with a friend?" Yan Chengjie wore a lazy smile at the corners of his mouth, his eyes brazenly scanning the man sitting across from Lin Yaru, who was said to be quite impressive.
"Let me introduce you; this is my friend, Mr. Ye, whom I met yesterday."
Although Lin Yaru maintained a calm smile on her face, her eyes were signaling Yan Chengjie to leave quickly and not ruin her good fortune. She was afraid he wouldn’t understand, so she emphasized "Mr. Ye" and "yesterday" during the introduction.
She really wanted to slap herself; why did she have to speak out when it was unnecessary?
She should have known Yan Chengjie’s personality by now. He loved to stir up trouble when he had nothing better to do. It seemed like he took pleasure in seeing her angry, and only when she was yelling would he be satisfied!
But this time was her most important date. If he dared to ruin her plans, she would make him pay for it; she wouldn’t let it go easily!
“Mr. Ye, hello! I am Yan Chengjie, nice to meet you!” Yan Chengjie extended his long hand towards him with great poise.
“Mr. Yan! Nice to meet you.” Ye Shenghan also stood up politely in response.
“You left your poor fiancé all alone at the company, working hard, while you… are here leisurely having coffee with another man, hmm?” Taking advantage of the moment when he brushed past Lin Yaru, Yan Chengjie leaned in lazily to whisper in her ear.
