Driving her Little Opel, Lin Yaru encountered a traffic jam of unprecedented scale that seemed to stretch endlessly. As the clock approached nine o'clock, Lin Yaru's heart raced with anxiety, and the image of Yan Chengjie’s devilish face began to haunt her thoughts. Determined, she fought her way through the long line of cars, charging forward like a desperate warrior.
By the time Lin Yaru arrived at Yan Group, recklessly weaving through traffic like a fugitive, the minute hand on her wristwatch had already pointed to six! It was now nine thirty.
She hurriedly rushed into Yan Chengjie’s office, flinging open the door to the Lamborghini room, only to find Yan Chengjie lounging casually on the sofa, elegantly sipping coffee as if he had anticipated her tardiness all along.
“Yan Cheng… no! Jie, I’m here for work,” Lin Yaru panted, but she stumbled over her words and quickly corrected herself. Her only redeeming quality was that she was someone who learned from her mistakes.
“Hmm, you finally made it,” Yan Chengjie said with a sly smile that suggested he had been plotting. He feigned nonchalance as he glanced at his wristwatch. “You’re late, you know?!”
Little did he know that seeing her expressive face first thing in the morning brought him immense joy; it felt incredibly satisfying! It was fantastic—who knows, he might even get a good morning kiss out of this! He realized that having her come work at Yan Group was one of the best decisions he had ever made.
However, her outfit… Yan Chengjie couldn’t help but furrow his attractive brows as he scrutinized Lin Yaru’s tightly wrapped professional attire. But after a moment, he relaxed his brows; this could wait for later.
“You don’t understand; it’s rush hour now. The streets are in chaos with traffic jams everywhere, so…”
“That’s not an excuse. The fact is you’re late, and in the office, you’re not allowed to make excuses,” Yan Chengjie said, pausing slightly before adding with a wicked grin, “But considering our friendship, we can ‘resolve’ this privately.”
Just looking at Yan Chengjie’s mischievous smile made Lin Yaru realize that his thoughts were anything but honorable at that moment.
“I don’t think we need to resolve anything privately. I should take responsibility for my lateness and accept whatever punishment you deem appropriate. Don’t hold back! I can handle it,” she replied defiantly. She certainly didn’t want his pity.
"That's great. Being able to take the initiative to admit mistakes is the best. What we value most at Yan Group is our employees' spirit of courage in acknowledging their errors and their willingness to bravely take responsibility for the consequences."
