Shen Xingyu drove according to the address given by Mo Liangzhe and arrived at Ye Jingzhu's apartment. The sky had darkened, and the stars were twinkling. Shen Xingyu was very excited, imagining the scene when he would meet Ye Jingzhu, a smile spreading across his face.
Suddenly, a scream came from outside, "Fire! Fire!" Shen Xingyu was momentarily stunned. He looked ahead and saw flames raging; it was Ye Jingzhu's apartment! He jumped out of the car and grabbed a resident, asking, "Is there a fire?"
"Yes," the resident nodded. "It's that apartment up ahead. I don't know how it started, but it's on fire. The front door is locked, and that girl hasn't come out."
Shen Xingyu's heart sank. He released the resident and ran toward the apartment. "Hey, don't go in there! It's dangerous!" the resident shouted after him.
Shen Xingyu reached the entrance of the apartment and pulled on the iron gate, but it was tightly locked, and he couldn't open it. "Jingzhu!" Shen Xingyu shouted anxiously, "Jingzhu, are you in there?"
"Get away!" the resident pulled Shen Xingyu back. "It's too dangerous inside."
"No! My wife is still in there!" Shen Xingyu broke free from the resident; he couldn't leave—Ye Jingzhu was waiting for him inside.
He looked at the resident and insisted, "Let me in! My wife is still in there."
"No way, it's too dangerous!" The resident held onto Shen Xingyu tightly.
"Let go of me!" Shen Xingyu glared at the resident with red eyes. "I have to save my wife."
"Young man, calm down," the resident said firmly, still gripping Shen Xingyu. "It's really too dangerous inside."
"Let go of me!" Shen Xingyu could no longer hold back; he had to save Ye Jingzhu. He struggled free from the resident and dashed into the flames.
"Jingzhu!" Shen Xingyu rushed into the apartment, covering his nose as he shouted inside, "Jingzhu, where are you?"
Thick smoke filled the apartment, and flames soared high; Shen Xingyu could barely see inside. "Jingzhu!" he called as he pushed further in.
With a loud bang, an explosion occurred in the kitchen, sending dust and sparks flying out.
"Cough cough." Shen Xingyu choked and rushed into the kitchen, finally seeing Ye Jingzhu.
Ye Jingzhu was lying on the ground, slightly opening her eyes to look at Shen Xingyu. She smiled faintly and said, "Am I hallucinating again?"
"Jingzhu." Shen Xingyu called out with concern as he approached her and helped her up. "Jingzhu, wake up."
"Shen Xingyu." Ye Jingzhu looked at him, raising her hand to touch his face. "Is it really you?"
"It's me." Shen Xingyu nodded. "Jingzhu, I'm here."
"You’re not dreaming, are you?" Ye Jingzhu looked at him, unable to believe that he would appear here.
"No." Shen Xingyu shook his head and helped her to her feet. "Jingzhu, I'll carry you out."
"Shen Xingyu, just go." Ye Jingzhu pushed him away. "I don't need you to take care of me."
"Jingzhu, no matter what you think, I won't leave you behind." Shen Xingyu looked at her seriously. "Just like you saved me back then."
Ye Jingzhu was slightly taken aback. "You..."
"I know about you giving me blood." Shen Xingyu picked her up. "Jingzhu, I won't let go of you again."
