In just half a month, the three of them had made significant progress in their abilities. One day, while they were practicing outside a cave, they suddenly saw the king's guards rushing towards them.
"Gentlemen, the king requests your presence," one of the guards said.
"Is there something urgent that the king needs to discuss with us?" I asked.
"I wouldn't know. You'll find out once you arrive," the guard replied.
The three of us followed the guard and hurried to the Royal Cave. There, we saw the king seated on his throne, his expression calm and unreadable.
"We pay our respects to the king," the three of us said in unison.
"No need for such formalities," the king replied.
He looked over the three of us and smiled with satisfaction, saying, "It’s been half a month since we last met, and you three have made remarkable progress. It truly brings me joy."
"It is all thanks to your guidance, Your Majesty," we replied in unison.
"Good. The reason I summoned you today is to discuss an important matter," the king said.
"Please go ahead, Your Majesty," we responded together.
"Ever since you three received guidance from the Divine Being, I have been pondering how to lift the curse on our kingdom," the king explained.
"Now, I have come to realize that in order to lift this curse, we must find the Exotic Fragrance Fruit mentioned by the Divine Being," he continued.
"But where does this Exotic Fragrance Fruit grow?" I asked.
"According to hints from the Divine Being, I believe that the Exotic Fragrance Fruit should grow on the Illusion Dream Plateau," the king stated.
"The Illusion Dream Plateau? What kind of place is that?" the three of us asked in confusion.
"The Illusion Dream Plateau is a mysterious location situated far to the north, covered in ice and snow year-round. Only on July 7th each year does a path leading to the Illusion Dream Plateau appear," the king explained.
"In that case, we should reach there before July 7th and enter the Illusion Dream Plateau to search for the Exotic Fragrance Fruit," I suggested.
"Yes, that’s what I was thinking as well," the king nodded in agreement.
He paused for a moment and added, "However, traveling to the Illusion Dream Plateau is a long and perilous journey. You three must be cautious and avoid taking unnecessary risks."
"Understood. We will be careful," we replied in unison.
"Alright, you all go back and prepare. We'll set off tomorrow," the King said.
"Yes," the three replied.
Early the next morning, they bid farewell to their families and set out on the journey to find the Illusion Dream Plateau.
Following the route marked on the map, they traveled north, crossing mountains and rivers, facing countless challenges along the way. However, they were not deterred by the difficulties; instead, they pressed on with determination.
On this day, they arrived at a strange valley, where towering peaks rose on both sides and steep cliffs loomed above. In the middle was a narrow winding path that twisted and turned.
"What is this place? Why is it so desolate?" Xiao Xiao asked.
"The map indicates that this is called Death Valley, a necessary route to reach the Illusion Dream Plateau," I replied.
"Death Valley? Just hearing the name sounds terrifying," A Meng said.
"No matter how frightening it is, we must get through," I stated.
The three of them carefully walked deeper into the valley along the path. Suddenly, they heard hurried footsteps coming from ahead.
"Be careful, something's coming," I whispered.
I tightened my grip on the Meteoric Divine Spear and watched vigilantly ahead.
A Meng and Xiao Xiao also drew their weapons, ready for battle.
Soon, a gigantic centipede burst out from deep within the valley. It was jet black, nearly twenty feet long, with hundreds of legs moving rapidly across the ground, making a rustling sound.
"It's the Centipede Spirit," Xiao Xiao exclaimed.
"Don't be afraid. If we work together, we can definitely take it down," I assured them.
I raised my spear and lunged at the Centipede Spirit.
Seeing the spear coming towards it, the Centipede Spirit did not dodge or evade; instead, it charged directly at me.
With a clang, the spear tip struck its body and produced a sharp sound as if piercing steel.
"What tough skin," I exclaimed in surprise.
I withdrew my spear and thrust again with all my strength, hoping to pierce through the Centipede Spirit's body.
