Li Wan felt embarrassed under his gaze and looked away. "Well, I'll do my best with your wish," she said. 0

Gaoyuan nodded with a smile. "Okay." 0

Returning to her seat, Li Wan suddenly noticed something new on the table. She picked it up and saw it was a set of her favorite comic books. 0

Overjoyed, she looked up at Du Jun. He winked at her, and Li Wan instantly understood that this was Du Jun's birthday gift for her. She was extremely happy and waved at Du Jun, saying, "Thank you, Senior Du." 0

Du Jun smiled slightly. "I'm glad you like it." 0

Gaoyuan's expression darkened as he reached out to snatch the comic books away. 0

Li Wan glared at him. "What are you doing?" 0

Gaoyuan coldly stared at Du Jun. 0

Du Jun chuckled. "Does Classmate Gaoyuan also like this book?" 0

Gaoyuan replied coldly, "I don't like it." 0

Du Jun raised an eyebrow. "Then why are you stealing it?" 0

Gaoyuan looked at him but remained silent. 0

Li Wan reached out to grab the comics back and shot Gaoyuan a glare. "Stop messing around." 0

Gaoyuan looked at her, feeling a wave of frustration inside. 0

Li Wan flipped through the comic books, unable to put them down. 0

Gaoyuan huffed and turned away, no longer looking at her. 0

Li Wan called out to him, "Gaoyuan?" 0

Gaoyuan ignored her. 0

She bit her lip, took the comic books, and got up to leave. 0

Hearing her footsteps, Gaoyuan turned to look at her. 0

Li Wan went to the convenience store and bought two bottles of drinks: one cola and one Sprite. 0

She returned to the classroom with a drink and handed the cola to Gaoyuan, saying, "Here, have this." 0
Gaoyuan paused and looked at her, "Why are you treating me?" 0
Li Wan blinked, "To thank you for the birthday gift you gave me." 0
Gaoyuan felt a little better inside and took the cola, replying, "You're welcome." 0
Li Wan cheerfully opened a Sprite and took a sip. 0

In the afternoon after school, Li Wan waited at the school gate for her parents to pick her up. 0
After waiting for a while without seeing anyone, her phone rang with an unfamiliar number. 0
She answered, "Hello?" 0
"Xiao Wan, where are you? Your dad and I are at your middle school gate but we don't see you." 0
Li Wan replied helplessly, "I'm at the high school gate; I'm in high school this year." 0
Ms. Li paused, "Oh, then wait there; we'll be there soon." 0
"No need, I'll take a taxi home myself," Li Wan said. 0
Ms. Li was worried, "That won't do! Your dad and I will come to get you." 0
Li Wan didn't say anything more and hung up the phone. 0
Twenty minutes later, Li Wan's parents arrived to pick her up. 0
Li Wan got into the car and politely greeted them, "Dad, Mom." 0
Ms. Li smiled and said, "Xiao Wan has grown up so much; you're getting more beautiful." 0
Li Wan smiled but didn't respond. 0
Mr. Li spoke while driving, "Your grandma knows you're coming back today; she made a lot of delicious food that you love." 0
Li Wan replied with a soft "Mm." 0
Ms. Li and Mr. Li exchanged a glance filled with a hint of helplessness. 0
When they arrived home, Grandma was waiting at the door. 0
Seeing Li Wan get out of the car, Grandma rushed over and held her hand, saying, "Xiao Wan is back! You must be hungry; come in and eat." 0
Li Wan smiled, "Grandma." 0

"Hey." Grandma responded and took her hand, leading her into the house. Li Wan glanced back and saw Mr. Li and Ms. Li standing at the door, smiling at her. Li Wan lowered her gaze and turned to enter the house. 0

During dinner, Li Wan kept her head down, focused on eating. Ms. Li and Mr. Li, along with Grandma, kept serving her dishes and asking how she had been over the past few years and how her studies were going. Li Wan simply nodded or shook her head, not saying a word. Ms. Li and Mr. Li felt a bit awkward. 0

Grandma sighed and said, "It's okay, the child is still young; take it slow." Ms. Li smiled and added, "Yes, there's no rush." Li Wan continued to eat in silence. 0

After dinner, Li Wan returned to her room to rest. Ms. Li and Mr. Li stood at the door watching her. Li Wan closed the door, leaned against it, and took a deep breath. It wasn't that she didn't want to get close to them; it was just that after so many years apart, she didn't know how to interact with them anymore. Even now, she felt embarrassed to call them Mom and Dad. 0

Li Wan lay on her bed and took out her phone. Gaoyuan had sent her a message: "Have you eaten?" 0

Li Wan replied: "Yes." 0

Gaoyuan asked: "Are your parents back?" 0

Li Wan responded: "Yes, they came back today." 0

Gaoyuan then asked: "Are you happy?" 0

Li Wan paused before replying: "Happy." 0

Gaoyuan did not respond further. 0
