"Xiao Fan must be comforted to know this," Mo Li said politely with a smile, asking Aunt Huang a few questions.
Aunt Huang's answers were similar to before, providing no new information.
Mo Li felt disappointed.
As she stood up to take her leave, Aunt Huang warmly urged her to stay.
"Mo Li, it's been many years since you last visited my home. Why are you leaving after just a short while? Wait a moment, I have something to take care of inside, I'll be right back."
Mo Li had no choice but to sit on the sofa in the living room and wait for her.
She saw Aunt Huang walk into the room and close the door.
Before long, she heard Aunt Huang's voice coming from inside.
Her voice was kept very low, but the room wasn't soundproof, so Mo Li could faintly catch bits and pieces of what was being said.
It seemed she heard Aunt Huang mention her name.
Mo Li alertly stood up, walked to the door, put on her shoes, and said something to Aunt Huang inside the room.
"Aunt Huang, I have something to do, so I’ll be leaving now. I’ll come to see you again later."
As soon as she opened the door, Aunt Huang rushed out of the room like a gust of wind, trying to grab her.
"Mo Li, wait a minute! Why are you leaving so soon? Your uncle will be back any moment; he wants to see you too."
Mo Li swiftly stepped outside, avoiding Aunt Huang's hand.
She hurriedly said, "Aunt Huang, I really have things to do. I’ll come back another time."
Ignoring Aunt Huang's pleas, Mo Li quickly ran down the stairs and out of the neighborhood where Aunt Huang lived.
Just as she reached the entrance of the community, a familiar small car screeched to a stop in front of her.
Then, with red eyes, Xiao Ran jumped out of the car.
Her guess was right; Aunt Huang had indeed tipped off Xiao Ran.
Unfortunately, she was still a step too late.
Mo Li took off running outside the neighborhood.
Xiao Ran chased closely behind her.
This time, the distance was shorter, and Mo Li had just run around a corner when she was caught by Xiao Ran.
Xiao Ran forcefully pushed Mo Li against the wall beside her, pinning her hands down.
Leaning in close, he growled, "Why? Why are you trying to escape?"
Mo Li lowered her gaze.
"I've already said it; please give me some time. Don't pressure me, okay?"
Xiao Ran glared at her with red eyes.
