"Are you concerned about me?" Xiao Ran teased.
After two years apart, he had matured and weathered much more than before.
He was no longer the impulsive young man he used to be.
Nor was he the same person who openly expressed his feelings for Mo Li while remaining indifferent to other women, hardly exchanging a word with them.
Now, he could even make jokes.

Xiao Ran repeated softly and then asked, "What about him? Why didn't he come? Is he very busy?"
Mo Li knew that the "he" he referred to was Ji Yan.
She replied, "He brought us here and then went to buy some things. He'll be back to pick us up soon."
"Oh."
Xiao Ran responded lightly.
The two of them were momentarily at a loss for words.
Ji Yutong, however, seemed to have a tacit understanding with Xiao Ran, playfully scratching his face and neck, which made Xiao Ran want to laugh.
With the distraction of the child, the atmosphere finally became less awkward.
Ji Yan returned with the items he had bought and saw Mo Li and her daughter. He exchanged a few pleasantries with Xiao Ran.
Xiao Ran then took his leave.
"I have some matters to attend to, so I'll be going first."
Waving his hand, he walked over to his car and got in.
Mo Li held Ji Yutong and returned to their car with Ji Yan.
Ji Yan kissed Ji Yutong and started the car.
He said, "Mo Li, I still have some things to take care of. I'll drop you and Yutong off first, and then I'll head home after I'm done."
Mo Li replied, "If you're busy, there's no need to drop us off. I can take Yutong back by myself; I already said I could manage."
Ji Yan smiled and said, "Who said I'm busy? No matter how busy I am, I can't not accompany you both."
He glanced at the two people closest to him and focused on driving.
Almost two years into their marriage, his feelings for Mo Li had not cooled with time; instead, they had grown even deeper.
The two of them were his greatest motivation for working and the very meaning of his life.
The three of them lived in the seaside house that Mo Li had chosen to escape from Ni Laohai.
That house held their sweetest memories.
