After he left, an underling dragged me away.
I deliberately let out a scream, which indeed caught Liang Ze's attention.
He turned back, his eyes icy: "Who allowed you to touch her?"
The underling turned pale: "S-sorry, Ze, she was too loud, I..."
Liang Ze remained expressionless as he swiftly severed the underling's hand with the dagger.
"Hands that are too worthless don't deserve to exist."
The underling collapsed from the pain on the spot.
And this bloody and brutal scene successfully spared me from much torment in the water prison.
Despite my undercover identity being exposed, Liang Ze showed me mercy. The water prison was designed by Liang Ze himself. The bottom was lined with countless blades; once a person was submerged in the water, the continuous flow would cause the wounds inflicted by the blades to become inflamed and fester, leading to death. I had been here for three days. In my hazy consciousness, I realized that Liang Ze would not be coming back. But I couldn't die. I had to survive and get out because I still had a mission to complete.
I heard footsteps approaching; it was Liang Ze's underling. He looked down into the water prison and, seeing me with my head drooping, assumed I was dead and turned to leave. I mustered the last bit of strength I had, turned my face toward the blades, and made a deep cut. The sharp pain brought me back to some clarity. Blood stained the surface of the water, successfully prompting the underling to return.
His expression changed drastically as he exclaimed, "Zege, she... she's not dead!" Soon after, Liang Ze hurried over. His face was dark as he pulled me out of the water, and an angry kiss overwhelmed me.
"Shen Mingyue, it's been three years; you really are tough!" he said. "You left without a word back then and now reappear without a sound. Do you think this place is just any ordinary spot?"
I weakly opened my eyes and allowed Liang Ze to hold me in his arms. "Liang Ze," I said, reaching out to touch his face, my voice hoarse, "I missed you." He stiffened slightly before letting out a cold laugh, "Missed me?"
"Are you hoping for my death?"
"Shen Mingzhu is already dead. What exactly is your purpose for coming here?"
Shen Mingzhu is my twin sister.
Three years ago, I was ordered by the organization to infiltrate Northern Myanmar with my sister as an undercover agent.
I was embedded beside Liang Ze, while my sister was with another group.
However, Liang Ze is inherently suspicious, and during our separate missions, we both revealed our identities at the same time.
My sister was captured while trying to save me, and I managed to escape.
As a result, I was expelled from the organization and labeled a traitor.
I was unwilling to accept this, so I secretly infiltrated Northern Myanmar again, hoping to complete the mission we had started before.
But unexpectedly, I was caught red-handed by Liang Ze as soon as I arrived.
I coughed weakly a couple of times and deliberately spat out some blood.
Liang Ze's expression changed immediately, and he hurriedly carried me to the private room.
He called a doctor to bandage me up, his face dark and silent throughout the process.
After the doctor left, he finally spoke: "Shen Mingyue, do not attempt to test my patience."
"I know you must have a purpose for coming back this time, but as long as you tell me, I will let you go."
I looked at him, tears silently streaming down my face: "Liang Ze, I really just want you."
Liang Ze scoffed coldly, clearly not believing me.
