I was taken aback. Did Liang Ze discover something? I pretended to be calm and looked at him, "Why do you ask that?"
Liang Ze remained silent for a long time before finally speaking, "It's nothing, just asking out of curiosity."
"You’re not feeling well. Tomorrow, I’ll take you somewhere."
"Where?"
"To a place where the Chinese ixora is about to wither."
I was slightly stunned and looked at him in confusion. Liang Ze smiled mysteriously at me.
"Don't ask. You'll find out tomorrow."
That night, Liang Ze came in to pour me some water. I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep. Liang Ze sat by the bed and watched me for a long time. I held back the urge to open my eyes.
"Shen Mingyue, you're not asleep, are you?"
I suddenly opened my eyes in surprise and looked at him. Liang Ze lay down beside me and wrapped his arm around my waist.
"Shen Mingyue, do you hate me?"
I stiffened for a moment before realizing what he meant.
"I don't hate you."
Liang Ze smiled, leaned closer, and kissed my forehead.
"Get some sleep."
He held me close and closed his eyes. But I couldn't sleep all night.
Early the next morning, Liang Ze called me up. He found me a pink down jacket.
I was slightly taken aback. This jacket was exactly the same as the one my sister wore before she went missing.
I turned to look at Liang Ze, my heart racing.
"Liang Ze, where exactly are we going?"
Liang Ze smiled as he helped me get dressed while explaining, "There's a big order recently, and I need to go personally."
"Aren't you in poor health? I thought about taking you out to relax," I replied.
"It's not far anyway; we'll be there in four hours."
I nodded obediently. "Alright then."
Liang Ze chuckled and ruffled my hair. "You're so good."
I smiled back at him and leaned into his embrace.
Liang Ze took me to the car, and we drove south. Four hours later, the car stopped in a small mountain village.
I was slightly taken aback and looked at Liang Ze in confusion. "Where is this...?"
Liang Ze looked at me proudly. "This is my second factory."
"Everyone in this village works for me."
"Second?" I gasped, shocked as I stared at Liang Ze. It turned out he had a backup human factory. No wonder he remained calm when the police checked him last time.
Liang Ze led me out of the car and walked into the village. Along the way, many people stopped to greet him respectfully.
"Hello, Mr. Liang."
Liang Ze nodded lightly, his expression full of pride.
I turned to look at these people; some appeared to be only in their teens, while others were already in their forties or fifties. Some looked clever and sharp, while others seemed simple and honest. Regardless, they had all been deceived.
I glanced at Liang Ze and quietly asked, "Do they know you tricked them?"
Liang Ze turned to me with a faint smile. "What if they do?"
"They've all been hired by me; what can they do?"
"Besides, they're here without worries about food or clothing. Isn't that great?"
I remained silent.
Liang Ze led me through the village.
As we walked, he introduced me to the surroundings.
"This is where people live."
"Over there is the warehouse."
"Up ahead is the operating room."
I paused slightly and looked up.
"The operating room?"
Liang Ze nodded, "Yes."
He spoke without concern for anyone around, stating it plainly.
"Up ahead is the operating room, with the top doctors inside."
"As soon as the goods arrive, they will immediately cut open and extract the needed organs."
A chill ran down my spine, and I felt cold sweat on my back.
Liang Ze spoke so casually, as if it were a trivial matter.
But it was a matter of life and death.
How could he be so cold-blooded?
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.
Soon, Liang Ze stopped in front of an inconspicuous house.
He turned to me and smiled slightly.
"We're here."
He took my hand and walked into the room.
