"Mm-mm!"
Xia Xiaoyu felt a bit puzzled, but she didn't press Li Hongmei for more information. She simply nodded in response.
It was impossible to move everything in one trip, so they made two trips. By the time Xia Xiaoyu went downstairs for the second time, small beads of sweat were already forming on her fair cheeks.
"Seriously, why isn't there an elevator to the Fifth Floor?" Xia Xiaoyu complained softly.
"That's just how it is at the university. There's no point in complaining. You should hurry and get your things upstairs; mealtime is approaching. If the dormitory administrator goes to eat, you'll have to wait until evening to get the keys," Li Hongmei reminded her with a sweet smile after noticing Xia Xiaoyu's expression.
"Okay, I'll move them now!"
Xia Xiaoyu smiled back, picked up her luggage from the ground, and said to Li Hongmei and Wang Tiantian, "Thank you!"
As she turned to walk into the dormitory entrance, Li Hongmei paused for a moment, glanced at Wang Tiantian beside her, and then hesitated before speaking.
"Xia Xiaoyu, wait a moment!"
Hearing this, Xia Xiaoyu turned her head in confusion to look at Li Hongmei.
"What’s wrong? If you have something to say, just say it!"
Li Hongmei's expression, which seemed to be on the verge of speaking but held back, caught Xia Xiaoyu's attention, prompting her to ask in confusion.
Li Hongmei bit her lip, paused for a moment, and then looked up at Xia Xiaoyu, slowly saying, "You mustn't be scared when I tell you this!"
Xia Xiaoyu was taken aback, looking at Li Hongmei with a puzzled expression, clearly not understanding the implication of her words.
"Go ahead! It's fine."
Li Hongmei glanced around and then hesitantly said, "Actually, I've heard from two seniors who are repeating their year that this dormitory used to..."
Before she could finish her sentence, a sound of footsteps came from the Staircase Entrance, interrupting Li Hongmei.
In the gaze of several people, a Middle-Aged Woman with a cold expression descended from the Staircase Entrance. Dressed in dark clothing, she happened to see Li Hongmei and the others outside the dormitory.
Her brows furrowed slightly as she pursed her lips and said in a neutral tone, "What are you all doing here?"
"She is a freshman who just moved into the dormitory. We are helping her carry her things!" Upon seeing the Middle-Aged Woman, Li Hongmei's expression changed slightly, clearly recognizing her.
"Mm!"
The Middle-Aged Woman merely acknowledged with a glance at Xia Xiaoyu.
"Aunt Zhang, could you please give us a Dormitory Key? Xia Xiaoyu needs to move her things in!" As the Middle-Aged Woman turned to leave, Li Hongmei quickly spoke up.
The middle-aged woman paused for a moment, contemplated, and then said, "Which dormitory?"
"Dormitory 514 on the fifth floor!" Xia Xiaoyu quickly replied.
"514 dormitory!"
The middle-aged woman's voice slightly changed, sounding somewhat incredulous. She then gave Xia Xiaoyu a deep, meaningful look. Afterward, she took out a large bunch of keys from her wide pocket and searched for a moment before handing one to Xia Xiaoyu.
"This key is the original. Later tonight, you give it back to me, and I'll give you a dormitory key and a wardrobe key!"
The middle-aged woman's voice, which had initially shown a hint of surprise, returned to normal as she spoke calmly.
"Oh!"
Xia Xiaoyu responded.
Without thinking, the woman who had called her over in high heels was the manager of the new Girls' Dormitory, and this middle-aged woman in front of her was the manager of this building!
However, her attitude was somewhat strange!
Although it wasn't unusual for someone to be cold, she gave Xia Xiaoyu an unsettling feeling that chilled her to the core.
