I had the most intense argument ever with Han Weiting. He threatened to go on a hunger strike, successfully forcing me to move back into my own place. However, I had to endure his supervision every day and drink a bottle of milk. I suspected he had added something else to the milk, but I no longer cared. After all, I was powerless to resist whatever he asked me to do; I could only comply mechanically.
I gulped down the milk and then slammed the door shut with a bang, shutting him out. Han Weiting's attitude towards me returned to its usual indifference. I thought my life would continue to be this miserable until Xu Mingxing fell ill.
For some inexplicable reason, I felt anxious and wanted to do everything I could to save him. Although we hadn't known each other for long, I knew he was the only person who treated me well without any ulterior motives. I took him around seeking medical help, with Han Weiting shadowing us the entire time.
He said, "Nuan Nuan, I can provide you with better service." I was fed up with his self-righteous concern, but no matter how much I tried to push him away, he refused to leave. Thus, we spent half a month in this drawn-out situation. Xu Mingxing's health continued to deteriorate. He began to struggle to walk, started coughing up blood, and even suddenly fainted.
In the end, he was admitted to the hospital arranged by Han Weiting. However hard the doctors tried, they could not save his life. On a stormy evening, he passed away. That day, I did not cry. I sat quietly in his hospital room, reflecting on our relationship. I had lost many things: my self-respect, my dignity, and my humanity.
But I actually don't want to lose Xu Mingxing. Because of him, my life has gained a glimmer of light. Because of him, I realized that I was still alive. But now, I've lost even the last person I could afford to lose.
Han Weiting appeared on the third day after Xu Mingxing's death. He was wearing a black trench coat and stood in front of me, handing me a bottle of milk. Suddenly, I began to suspect that Xu Mingxing's death was related to him. But looking at his expression, it didn't seem like it.
He walked over to me, gently wrapped his arm around my shoulder, and tried to kiss me. I turned my head away, avoiding his kiss. I hated his touch; it made me feel sick.
"Han Weiting, why are you forcing me?"
"I'm not," he said hoarsely.
"Not forcing me?" I scoffed. "If that's true, then why have you pushed me to this point?"
"Nuannuan, I'm sorry..."
"Sorry?" I stood up and turned to face him. "Han Weiting, if 'sorry' meant anything, then everyone who makes a mistake could easily be forgiven."
He looked at me, a flicker of pain crossing his eyes.
He said, "Nuannuan, I'm already in hell."
I laughed.
"Han Weiting, do you think that's enough? Do you think one 'sorry' can erase my hatred for you?"
I shook my head and said, "Not enough, far from enough."
"I want to take you down to hell with me; whether in life or death, I want you to accompany me in my burial."
I married Han Weiting.
Although we have always been rivals, I received the blessings of all my friends and family at this wedding.
After the marriage, Han Weiting was almost completely obedient to me, indulging me to the extreme.
I mentioned that the weather was too hot, and he took me to New Zealand. There, the winters are warm, and the snow-capped mountains never melt.
He said, "Nuan Nuan, you can stay here for a lifetime, and I will always be with you."
I casually complained, "It's too cold here."
He immediately took off his coat and draped it over me, continuously adding layers of clothing as if he wanted to wrap me up like a dumpling.
"Are you cold?" He held my hand, constantly breathing warmth onto it.
I pulled my hand back and said lightly, "I'm not cold anymore; don't stand so close to me."
He smiled and said, "Alright, I'll do as you say."
