They paddled hard, rushing toward the opposite shore. Finally, the Gourd Boat surged onto the bank, and the three of them hurriedly jumped off the boat and onto the land. 0

Standing on the shore, they gazed at the vast, boundless river with a sense of lingering fear. "We finally made it," I exclaimed. "Yeah, this river is really wide," Xiao Xiao said. "This gourd really helped us a lot," A Meng remarked. "Yes, without this gourd, we would never have been able to cross the river," I replied. 0

"What do we do now?" Xiao Xiao asked. "Let's first assess our surroundings," I suggested. He looked around and saw that the opposite bank was a wilderness, overgrown with weeds and dense trees, with no signs of human presence. "It seems there are no people here," I noted. "Yes, there's not a trace of human activity," Xiao Xiao agreed. 0

"It's getting late; we can only find a place to settle down for now," I said. "It looks like that's our only option," Xiao Xiao nodded in agreement. So, the three of them ventured deeper into the wilderness in search of a place to stay. 0

After searching for half a day without finding a suitable spot, they realized that night was approaching and could only settle for a clean patch of ground to sit down. "Looks like we'll have to camp out here tonight," I said. "Yeah, there aren't even any caves; we'll have to sleep under the open sky," Xiao Xiao replied. 0

"That's okay; we have torches, so we're not afraid of wild beasts," A Meng said. "Yes, we can light a bonfire to ward off any animal attacks," I added. He took out some fire-starting materials and gathered some twigs and dry grass to ignite the bonfire. 0

The three of them gathered around the fire, ate some dry rations, drank some water, and then lay down to sleep. They were exhausted from a long day and quickly fell into a deep slumber. 0

We found a dead tree in the woods, with dry, cracked openings in the trunk that were just big enough for us to enter and exit. 0

Inside the treehouse, there was plenty of space, making it perfect for us to stay that night. After discussing it among ourselves, we decided to set up camp right there. 0

We dropped our backpacks and split up to gather some wild vegetables and mushrooms nearby for dinner. We also collected a large bundle of dry branches, and started a campfire in the clearing. We skewered the cleaned wild vegetables and mushrooms and placed them over the fire to roast. 0

While we were busy, we suddenly heard Da Huang barking loudly. Following the sound, we noticed rustling in the grass. 0

“Get down!” Xiao Xiao shouted. 0

We quickly crouched down and saw a giant turtle, about the size of a millstone, slowly crawling out of the grass. Unlike ordinary turtles, this one had a snake-like tongue flicking out in forks. Its eyes glowed with an eerie green light. 0

We immediately realized this was no ordinary turtle. This was a monster! It crawled slowly toward us and stopped about ten meters away. Then it stretched its neck, swaying from side to side as if searching for prey. 0

“Shoot its eyes!” Xiao Xiao whispered. 0

A Meng nodded in agreement. The two of them skillfully took out their slingshots, aimed, pulled back, and fired! 0

With a sharp “thwack,” the projectile hit the giant turtle right in the eye. The creature let out a terrible scream, twisting its neck in pain before charging at us wildly. 0

“Damn, why is it so fierce?!” A Meng exclaimed as he grabbed Xiao Xiao and ran. I was so scared my legs felt weak, and I followed them in a panic. 0

The giant turtle was relentlessly chasing us from behind, occasionally stretching its neck to snap at us. Several times, it nearly bit Xiao Xiao and A Meng. 0

"Stop running!" Xiao Xiao shouted. "We can't outrun it!" 0

"What should we do then?" A Meng asked. 0
