"This should be the wing bone of an eagle," A Meng said after taking a glance.
"Wing bone..." Xiao Xiao suddenly had a bright idea. "I have a way."
"What way?" I asked curiously.
"Watch me," Xiao Xiao said with a mysterious smile. He took the Eagle Bone and walked aside, pulling out a small knife to start cutting.
Before long, he returned with two pieces of bone and said, "Look, this is my Eagle Bone Flute."
"Eagle Bone Flute?" everyone asked in confusion.
"Yes," Xiao Xiao nodded. "It is said that a flute made from eagle bones can bless people with safety and smoothness."
"Really? That's great!" I exclaimed happily.
"Hopefully, it will help us successfully complete this mission," A Meng added.
"Alright, let's continue preparing dinner and the bonfire," I suggested.
"Okay," everyone replied and got busy.
Xiao Xiao, on the other hand, was focused on making his Eagle Bone Flute.
That night, by the bonfire.
"Alright, I'm done!" Xiao Xiao shouted excitedly while holding the Eagle Bone Flute.
"Play it for us," I urged eagerly.
Xiao Xiao nodded, placed the Eagle Bone Flute to his lips, and began to play.
The melodious sound of the flute echoed through the mountains, sweet and clear, like a fairy's fingertips gliding gently over flower petals, bringing a sense of peace and joy.
"That's amazing! The flute sounds so beautiful!" I couldn't help but applaud.
"Thank you for the compliment," Xiao Xiao smiled.
"I believe this flute's sound will carry far and wide," A Meng remarked.
"Yes," I nodded. "Tomorrow, we will continue our journey."
The next morning, the sound of birds chirping woke us from our sleep.
"Are you all awake?" Xiao Xiao asked while sitting on a rock with the Eagle Bone Flute in hand.
"Mm." Everyone opened their eyes in response.
"I'll continue playing the flute to awaken the sleeping dawn," Xiao Xiao said.
"Okay." Everyone nodded.
Xiao Xiao resumed playing the Eagle Bone Flute, and the melodious sound echoed through the mountains.
The sun slowly rose, casting warm sunlight over the land.
"Alright, breakfast is finished; let's continue on our journey," I said.
"Okay." Everyone responded and continued forward.
Chapter 16
We found a secluded spot, gathered together, and lit a campfire.
The New Moon rose, and countless stars accompanied us through this quiet night.
The next morning, the birds began their busy activities again.
We were also awakened by the rising sun from our dreams.
"Now what? How do we get up the mountain?" I asked.
"How about we figure out a way to make a flying device and fly up?" A Meng suggested.
"Not reliable," Xiao Xiao shook her head.
"Then should we find a place to climb up using vines?" I proposed again.
"Even less reliable," Xiao Xiao shook her head again.
"What should we do then?" A Meng said helplessly.
The three of us sat by the pond, lost in thought.
Under the sunlight, that rainbow slowly reappeared.
"Look, the rainbow has appeared," Xiao Xiao exclaimed excitedly.
"It's so beautiful," I also marveled.
"It's just a rainbow; what's so special about it?" A Meng scoffed.
"No, it seems like the rainbow is right in front of us," Xiao Xiao said.
"Yeah, we could reach out and touch it," I replied.
"I'll give it a try," A Meng said as he stretched out his foot to kick the rainbow, only to shout in pain, "Ouch, that hurts!"
"Hahahaha..." Xiao Xiao laughed so hard he couldn't stand up straight. "Are you silly? It's solid rock."
"Then how did it end up here?" A Meng asked, confused.
"Well..." Xiao Xiao was also stumped by the question.
