The store is called "Shadow Realm" and is located on a commercial street near the school.
We walked in and saw a few people sitting inside, among them were two foreigners.
"Chen Ran," Lu Hao said to a boy, "these two are the translators I told you about."
"Hello," Chen Ran politely nodded at us, "thank you for your help."
"You're welcome," I replied, "it's our duty."
After exchanging a few pleasantries, the two Frenchmen approached us. They communicated with Lu Hao for a while, then took out several sheets of paper and handed them to Lu Hao.
Lu Hao took the papers and passed them to me, saying, "Li Ting, take a look."
I received the papers and carefully browsed through them.
It was a French document with complex content involving various technical terms; it was clear that professional translation was needed to handle it. Fortunately, I had called Xiao Mei over in advance.
Xiao Mei and I studied the document and finally translated it.
We informed Lu Hao of the translation results, which he then relayed to the two Frenchmen.
After some discussion, both parties finally confirmed the final plan.
"Awesome!" Lu Hao exclaimed excitedly, "I'm treating tonight; let's celebrate!"
"Sounds good," Chen Ran said with a smile, "I want hot pot!"
"Sure," Lu Hao replied readily, "all you can eat!"
After finishing the business talk, Lu Hao and Chen Ran took us on a tour of the store.
The decor of this shop is very unique; there is a huge black compass painted on one wall that takes up the entire space, giving it a sci-fi feel.
There are also many picture frames hanging on the wall, showcasing tattoo artworks that are uniquely styled, vividly colored, and exaggerated in shape, leaving one in awe.
"This place is really nice," I remarked, "I love the style here."
"Really?" Chen Ran laughed, "I like it a lot too."
"You’re just bragging," Lu Hao retorted.
"I'm being realistic," Chen Ran countered.
I looked at the two of them and curiously asked, "How did you guys meet?"
"We were high school classmates," Lu Hao said. "After graduation, he studied art while I studied law, but our relationship has remained unchanged."
"I see," I nodded. "You have a really good relationship."
"Of course," Chen Ran said proudly. "We're best buddies!"
After chatting for a while, Chen Ran brought us milk tea and coffee.
"Thank you," I said as I took the coffee, took a sip, and then said to Chen Ran, "Your dog is really smart."
"Isn't it?" Chen Ran said with pride. "It's very clever."
"What’s its name?" I asked.
"Xiao Hei."
I was speechless.
Such a smart and cute dog has such an ordinary name; what a pity.
"What are you doing?" I asked curiously.
"Teaching it math," Lu Hao replied.
I was incredulous as I looked at him, "You’re teaching a dog math?"
"Yeah," Lu Hao nodded. "I'm teaching it to count so it can earn money by performing and help attract customers to the shop."
I paused for a moment, looked at Xiao Hei, and sighed, "You really picked the wrong owner."
Xiao Hei seemed to understand and whimpered twice in dismay.
We all burst into laughter.
After waiting for a while, the two Frenchmen finally arrived. The negotiation officially began. Xiaomei and I were responsible for translation while Lu Hao communicated with the clients. I initially thought this negotiation would be difficult, but to my surprise, the process went exceptionally smoothly with almost no haggling.
"Pleasure to cooperate!" Chen Ran said excitedly as he shook hands with the other party. "Pleasure to cooperate!" the other party replied with a smile.
After sending off the clients, Chen Ran excitedly suggested, "Tonight, I'm treating! Let's go eat hot pot together!"
"Sounds good," Lu Hao nodded in agreement. "After we finish, I'll take you back."
"No need to trouble yourself," I quickly waved my hand. "We can just take a taxi back."
"That won't do," Lu Hao frowned. "It's dark out; it's not safe for you two girls."
"That's right," Chen Ran echoed. "Let Lu Hao take you."
"Well..." Seeing that I couldn't refuse, I had to agree. "Then thank you for your trouble."
"It's no trouble," Lu Hao smiled. "I don't have anything else to do anyway."
We took a car to a Chongqing Hot Pot Restaurant, ordered a spicy pot, and started eating with great enjoyment. During the meal, Xiaomei kept trying to find topics to chat with Chen Ran, probably hoping to extract some information from him. I, on the other hand, was somewhat distracted, frequently glancing out the window.
"Li Ting, what's wrong?" Lu Hao asked with concern.
"Nothing," I shook my head. "Just feel a bit stuffy in here."
"Shall we change places?" Lu Hao suggested.
"No need to trouble yourself," I quickly waved my hand again. "I can manage."
"Alright," Lu Hao said. "But if you feel uncomfortable, you must tell me."
"Okay," I nodded. "I will."
