Luo Yu looked at me, his gaze deep.
"Qian Qian, you are a smart person."
"Now, with Yuwen Hao secretly visiting Prince Zhongshan’s Mansion and the situation in court being turbulent, it is indeed a good time to act."
"Xiao Yi has great prestige and influence."
"If he is willing to help me, I would never harm him."
"So, will you help me?"
I lowered my eyes, my thoughts in disarray.
"Luo Yu, why are you telling me this now?"
Luo Yu smiled slightly.
"Qian Qian, you are so clever; how could you not know?"
"In Xiao Yi's heart, you are the most special."
"Perhaps he will really listen to you."
"Only you can persuade him to help me."
My heart was in turmoil as I turned to leave.
Luo Yu called out to me.
"What are you going to do?"
"I am going to find him."
"You cannot!"
"Xiao Yi is seeing Yuwen Hao off; you must not go!"
Ignoring Luo Yu's advice, I stumbled toward the front hall.
As I approached the front hall, Xiao Yi was escorting Yuwen Hao out.
Yuwen Hao looked at Xiao Yi, his expression complex.
" Prince Zhongshan, your reluctance seems to indicate a change of heart?"
"Do you not wish to quell the chaos for me?"
Xiao Yi lowered his gaze and did not explain.
"Your Majesty, it is time to return to the palace."
Yuwen Hao gave Xiao Yi a deep look before turning to leave.
Halfway out, he turned back to look at Xiao Yi.
" Prince Zhongshan, have you ever regretted it?"
"Back then, you gave up the easily attainable throne to save someone."
Xiao Yi's expression was indifferent, his gaze resolute.
"Never."
Yuwen Hao left.
Xiao Yi stood in place, watching him depart.
Once Yuwen Hao's carriage disappeared, Xiao Yi finally turned around.
As soon as he turned his head, he saw me hiding in the shadows.
Xiao Yi's expression changed, and he quickly walked up to me.
"What are you doing here?"
"Are you cold?"
I looked at him, my eyes filled with tears.
"Xiao Yi, why did you save me back then?"
Xiao Yi was taken aback.
"Why are you suddenly asking this?"
I was speechless, unsure of how to respond.
Xiao Yi sighed and took off his outer robe, draping it over my shoulders.
"Forget it, let's go back first."
I followed him back to the study, feeling a wave of anxiety in my heart.
Xiao Yi poured me a cup of hot tea, allowing me to warm my hands.
"Alright, go ahead and speak."
I hesitated, not knowing how to begin.
Xiao Yi looked at me with a gentle expression.
"Qian Qian, what do you want to know?"
I sniffed and spoke in a hoarse voice.
"Why did you save me back then?"
Xiao Yi paused for a moment before chuckling softly.
"Because you could stir my emotions."
"I thought that if I let you be, you would surely suffer from love in the future."
"So, I sent you away."
"Qian Qian, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have failed due to a moment of compassion."
I stared at him, feeling a wave of sorrow in my heart.
"Xiao Yi, you are the Xiao Yi of the world."
"You shouldn't give up your path to the throne because of me."
I regretted it.
Back then, he shouldn't have saved me out of kindness.
He definitely shouldn't have given up his throne for me.
Xiao Yi looked at me, his gaze deep.
"Qian Qian, this is not your fault."
Xiao Yi was not dead; he had been severely injured while trying to save me.
All of this was because of me.
Guilt, self-blame, and regret instantly overwhelmed me.
I couldn't control my emotions and rushed into Xiao Yi's arms, holding him tightly and unwilling to let go.
Tears silently fell, soaking Xiao Yi's clothes.
"Qian Qian?"
"You... you are crying?"
Xiao Yi seemed a bit at a loss.
I lifted my head and looked at him through tear-filled eyes.
"Xiao Yi, I regret it."
"Back then, I shouldn't have asked you to save me."
"Qian Qian, this is not your fault."
"But if it weren't for me..."
Xiao Yi sighed and raised his hand as if he wanted to stroke my hair, but his hand paused in mid-air.
