The next day, she began studying Subject Two. Having had previous experience, she quickly got the hang of it this time, but the coach was strict, and she was scolded harshly every day.
"Why are you so stupid!" the coach exclaimed in frustration. "You can't even manage such a simple operation!"
Li Ting lowered her head, not daring to say a word. She knew she wasn't performing well, so she practiced even harder.
When she returned home that evening, she lay on her bed and messaged Lu Hao: "I'm so tired."
Lu Hao quickly replied: "What's wrong?"
Li Ting: "I got scolded by the coach today."
Lu Hao: "Why did you get scolded?"
Li Ting: "I made a mistake with the movements."
Lu Hao: "Don't be sad; you'll do better next time."
Li Ting: "Yes, I will definitely do better next time."
Lu Hao: "Keep it up."
Looking at the words on the screen, Li Ting felt much better. She turned over in bed and stared at the ceiling. Suddenly, she realized that she seemed to be relying more and more on Lu Hao. She picked up her phone and looked at their chat history, a wave of inexplicable emotions surged within her.
She couldn't help but think how nice it would be if they could chat like this every day in the future. But… could they really be together?
Li Ting sighed, placing her phone under her pillow and closing her eyes.

During the winter break, Lu Hao often messaged Li Ting, sharing snippets of his life. Li Ting frequently replied to him; although they didn't meet often, their relationship grew increasingly close.
On New Year's Day, after having dinner with her family and watching the Spring Festival Gala together, Li Ting's phone suddenly rang at ten o'clock. She picked it up to see that it was a call from Lu Hao. She walked to the balcony and answered the phone.
"Happy New Year!" Lu Hao's cheerful voice came through.
"Happy New Year!" Li Ting replied with a smile.
"What are you doing?" Lu Hao asked.
"Watching the Spring Festival Gala with my parents," Li Ting replied.
"Isn't that boring?" Lu Hao said in surprise.
"There's no choice; it's like this every year," Li Ting said helplessly.
"How about... going out to have some fun?" Lu Hao suggested.
"Now?" Li Ting asked, astonished.
"Yeah," Lu Hao said, "I'll take you to see the fireworks."
"Really?" Li Ting exclaimed excitedly.
"Of course, when have I ever lied to you?" Lu Hao said.
"Okay, wait for me a moment while I tell my parents," Li Ting said.
"Sure, I'll wait for you," Lu Hao replied.
Li Ting hung up the phone and walked into the living room, saying to her parents, "Mom, Dad, I'm going out for a bit."
"It's so late; where are you going?" her mother asked.
"Uh..." Li Ting hesitated, "A friend invited me out."
"Is it a boyfriend?" her mother immediately guessed.
Li Ting's cheeks flushed slightly, "Not really; he's just a good friend."
"That’s still not okay; it’s too dangerous," her mother opposed.
"Mom, I'll be careful," Li Ting pleaded.
"You child..." Her mother wanted to say more, but her father spoke up, "Let her go."
"Thanks, Dad!" Li Ting said joyfully.
"Be safe," her father reminded her.
"Yeah, I know," Li Ting nodded, put on her coat, and went out.
She arrived at the entrance of the community where Lu Hao was already waiting.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," Li Ting apologized.
"No worries; I just got here too," Lu Hao smiled.
"Then let's go," Li Ting said.
"Okay," Lu Hao nodded, and they walked together to the roadside and hailed a taxi.
Lu Hao gave the driver an address, and they were taken to their destination.
After getting out of the car, Li Ting realized they had arrived in the suburbs.
"Can we set off fireworks here?" Li Ting asked in surprise.
"I have a friend who opened a manor here, and he allows us to set off fireworks," Lu Hao explained.
"Oh," Li Ting said, realizing.
The two walked into the manor, where a number of people had already gathered, mostly young people chatting in small groups.
"Let's go over there," Lu Hao said to Li Ting.
"Okay," Li Ting nodded and followed Lu Hao.
Lu Hao led her to an open area where fireworks were already set up, and a few people were standing nearby, adjusting the fireworks.
"Are these all your friends?" Li Ting asked.
"Yes," Lu Hao nodded. "They are all friends I've grown up with."
"Are they all college students?" Li Ting asked curiously.
"Some are, some aren't," Lu Hao replied.
"Oh," Li Ting nodded.
Lu Hao picked up a sparkler from the side, lit it, and handed it to Li Ting. "Try this."
Li Ting took it and waved it around; the sparkler emitted brilliant light.
"It's beautiful," Li Ting exclaimed.
"There are even more beautiful ones," Lu Hao said with a smile.
He picked up a large firework, placed it on the ground, lit the fuse, and quickly stepped back.
A few seconds later, the firework exploded in the sky, forming beautiful patterns.
"Wow, so pretty!" Li Ting couldn't help but exclaim.
"And there's this one," Lu Hao said as he took another firework and placed it on the ground to light it.
This time, the firework burst into a heart shape in the air, looking particularly romantic.
Li Ting watched the fireworks, feeling a sweetness in her heart.
She turned to look at Lu Hao, who was also looking at her.
Their eyes met, and both were momentarily stunned.
