If we can't deal with such a fierce beast, how can we complete even more daunting tasks? I tossed and turned all night, and finally made up my mind. No matter what, we must kill this Qiu Long!
The next day, we got up, had a simple meal, and began discussing strategies. We thought of many methods, but each one was quickly dismissed. Faced with such a powerful opponent, our strength felt utterly insignificant.
Finally, A Meng said, "Why don't we use fire to attack?" Xiao Xiao shook her head and replied, "But the Qiu Long is in the Xuanchi; water and fire are incompatible, so fire can't reach it at all."
I thought for a moment and suggested, "We can use smoke to drive it out." A Meng's eyes lit up at this idea and said, "Yes! Let's use smoke to force it out." Xiao Xiao nodded in agreement and said, "This method is worth a try."
So we set to work, gathering some dry branches and piling them by the Xuanchi before lighting a fire. Then we hid at a distance, waiting quietly. After a while, thick smoke billowed up, filling the entire Xuanchi.
The Qiu Long seemed unable to withstand the smoke's irritation and let out a howl as it leaped out from the Xuanchi. Seeing this, we rushed forward, weapons raised, and attacked the Qiu Long. The beast was suffering from the smoke and its combat ability was greatly diminished; we caught it off guard.
Our morale surged as we quickened our assault. However, the Qiu Long suddenly shook its head violently and flew deep into the ravine. We hurried after it but found that the Qiu Long had already vanished.
Standing at the edge of the deep ravine, looking into its unfathomable depths, we felt a sense of despair. With the Qiu Long having flown into the ravine, attacking it again would be even more difficult. Dejectedly, we returned to the village to discuss strategies with our families and older brothers.
The older brothers in the family frowned after hearing our words, and after a long while, they couldn't come up with a good solution.
That night, none of us had the mood to eat. We sat in the cave, gazing at the distant mountains, lost in thought. I subconsciously took out the Eagle Bone Flute and played the theme song from the animated series. The sound of the flute was melodious yet sorrowful, mirroring my own state of mind.
Xiao Xiao and A Meng listened quietly, lowering their heads in silence. Da Huang also howled sadly a couple of times upon hearing it. None of us could sleep that night. It wasn't until dawn that I finally closed my eyes in a daze.
I had a dream where we finally defeated Qiu Long, and Xuanchi returned to tranquility. We happily returned to the Wujin Royal Palace, where the king personally welcomed us and granted us titles and rewards. With generous prizes in hand, we set off on our journey home.
We passed through many places and endured numerous hardships before finally returning to our own world. We reunited with our families in our hometown and lived a happy life together. I was immersed in this dream, reluctant to wake up.
However, dreams are ultimately just dreams and will eventually turn into reality. When I opened my eyes, I found that it was already bright outside. I stepped out of the cave and looked at the distant Xuanchi Mountain, letting out a long sigh.
A Meng and Xiao Xiao came out as well. Seeing me sighing deeply, they comforted me, saying, "Don't worry; we'll think of a way slowly. We will definitely defeat Qiu Long." I nodded but didn't say anything.
