After we had breakfast, we set off for the mountain early.
We sat by the Xuanchi, gazing at the shimmering water, lost in thought. If only the Divine Eagle were here, it could carry us to Qiu Long's lair, allowing us to attack more effectively. However, it was thousands of miles away and could not hear my call.
Subconsciously, I took out the Eagle Bone Flute and began to play. The sound was melodious yet mournful, mirroring my own feelings. Xiao Xiao and A Meng listened quietly, lowering their heads in silence. Da Huang also barked sadly a couple of times.
We sat by the Xuanchi without speaking, the atmosphere heavy and oppressive. Suddenly, a gust of wind swept through, prompting us to look up. In the sky appeared a massive eagle. Its wings spread wide, measuring over ten meters in length, with talons like steel hooks glinting in the sunlight.
It circled above Xuanchi, calling out as if searching for something. Upon closer inspection, I realized that this eagle was indeed the Divine Eagle that had once soared above the rooftop with Da Huang and me. How could it be here? Did it come all this way because it heard my flute?
Thinking of this filled me with joy. I quickly stood up and whistled towards the Divine Eagle. Hearing my whistle, the Divine Eagle swooped down and landed right in front of me.
I excitedly stroked its feathers, overwhelmed with emotion. It was truly amazing that the Divine Eagle could hear my flute from so far away and come to me. A Meng and Xiao Xiao were equally thrilled to see the Divine Eagle and jumped up in excitement.
After playing with the Divine Eagle for a while, we began discussing our strategy to fight against the dragon. With the help of the Divine Eagle, our confidence soared. The Divine Eagle was incredibly strong and fast as lightning; even if we couldn't defeat Qiu Long, it would provide us with more opportunities to attack.
We carefully studied the characteristics of Qiu Long and the environment of Xuanchi with Divine Eagle, and developed a detailed battle plan.
Early the next morning, we rode on Divine Eagle and flew over Xuanchi. Qiu Long seemed to sense our presence and leaped out of Xuanchi with a roar.
As we sat on the back of Divine Eagle, looking at Qiu Long's massive body, we all felt a bit nervous. After all, this was our first time fighting a fierce beast while riding Divine Eagle, and we were uncertain.
Qiu Long appeared curious, circling around us a few times without attacking. Seeing this, we quickly adjusted our positions, preparing for battle. After observing us for a while, Qiu Long seemed to feel that we posed no threat and opened its large mouth to bite at us.
In response, we hurriedly leaned down and held tightly onto Divine Eagle's neck. Understanding our intent, Divine Eagle suddenly dodged to avoid Qiu Long's attack.
With its strike missing, Qiu Long became even angrier and roared as it chased after us. Divine Eagle quickly flapped its wings and flew behind Qiu Long. Seizing the opportunity, we raised our weapons and struck at Qiu Long.
Surprised by our ambush from behind, Qiu Long swung its tail violently, knocking our weapons away. We were all hit by Qiu Long's tail, feeling numb in our arms and sharp pain in our chests.
Despite the pain, we gritted our teeth and charged at Qiu Long again. It seemed to disregard us entirely, roaring as it engaged with us in combat.
