"No! We can't go! This is obviously a trap!" I blurted out without thinking, grabbing Du Ming's arm, afraid he would disappear in the next moment. 0
Du Ming turned to hold my hand firmly, his gaze resolute: "Lingxi, I know what you're worried about, but there are some things I must face. I want to see who is pulling the strings behind the scenes!" 0
"But..." I wanted to persuade him further, but Du Ming had already made up his mind. He gently pried my hand away and pressed a kiss on my forehead: "Don't worry, I'll be fine. Wait for me at home; I'll be back soon." 0
With that, he left the villa without looking back. Watching his determined figure fade away, my heart felt like it was gripped tightly by an invisible hand, a strong sense of unease washing over me. 0
"Lingxi, don't worry. Du Ming is blessed and will be fine," Bai Wei comforted me from the side, but I couldn't calm down at all. 0
"I hope so..." I murmured to myself, my mind in turmoil. 0
As night fell, Du Ming still hadn't returned. I paced anxiously around the room while Bai Wei accompanied me, occasionally offering words of comfort, but we both knew that things were probably not as simple as we imagined. 0
Suddenly, a loud crash came from outside the villa, followed by the sound of shattering glass. Bai Wei and I were startled by this sudden turn of events; before we could react, several men in black burst through the window and attacked us without a word. 0
"Be careful!" I quickly shielded Bai Wei behind me and pulled out several Silver Needles from my sleeve, shooting them at the men in black. 0
The Silver Needles accurately struck their acupoints, causing them to momentarily freeze, but they quickly regained their composure and continued to advance toward us. 0
"Who are these people? Why do my Silver Needles seem ineffective against them?" I asked anxiously while fending off their attacks. 0
"If I'm not mistaken, they should be cultivators," Bai Wei said with a pale face. "Only cultivators can resist your medical techniques." 0
"Cultivators?!" My heart sank at once; if they were indeed cultivators, then Bai Wei and I were in grave danger today... I gritted my teeth and summoned the little spiritual energy left in me to infuse it into the Silver Needles again, shooting them at the men in black once more. This time, the Silver Needles finally had an effect; several men in black groaned softly and slowed down noticeably. 0
"Lingxi, are you okay?" Bai Wei asked worriedly. I shook my head, forcing back the surging blood within me and whispered, "I'm fine; just be careful!" 0
However, two fists couldn't fight four hands; gradually, we began to fall behind. Just when we were about to collapse under pressure, a flash of white light appeared as an elderly man in a blue robe materialized before us. His hair and beard were white, yet he looked vigorous and held a Dust Whisk in his hand, exuding an air of immortality. 0
"Who dares to act recklessly here?!" The old man shouted angrily; with a wave of his Dust Whisk, a powerful force sent several men in black flying away. 0
"Thank you for saving us, senior!" I looked at the old man gratefully as a glimmer of hope ignited within me. 0
"No need for formalities," the old man smiled slightly as his gaze swept over me and Bai Wei. "Are you from the Guo Family?" 0
I nodded: "I am Guo Lingxi; this is my friend Bai Wei." 0
"So you are Doc Guo's descendants," the old man nodded. "I have some connections with your grandfather; today I'll do him a favor and save your lives." 0
As soon as he finished speaking, several men in black charged forward again. The old man's expression changed sharply; he wielded his Dust Whisk and engaged in battle with them. However, it seemed that the men in black were well-prepared; they coordinated seamlessly with fierce moves. Although the old man was powerful, his age began to show as he gradually struggled against them. 0
"Be careful, senior!" Seeing this situation unfold shocked me; I wanted to rush forward to help but was held back by Bai Wei: "Lingxi, you can't make another move in your current state; otherwise it will harm your foundation!" 0
I was extremely anxious but helplessly watched as the old man fought against the men in black. 0

At that moment, Du Ming's phone suddenly rang. I quickly answered the call, and Du Ming's deep voice came through: "Lingxi, I'm fine. I'm in a cave right now, and here..." His voice abruptly cut off, followed by a burst of noise, as if the signal was poor. 0

"Du Ming, where are you? What happened?" I asked anxiously, but there was no response on the other end. 0

"Lingxi, what's wrong?" Bai Wei asked. 0

I shook my head, forcing myself to calm down. "Du Ming is fine; he's in a cave. It must be a bad signal." 0

As I spoke, I carefully recalled what Du Ming had just said. He mentioned a cave—had he discovered something? 0

"Lingxi, look!" Bai Wei suddenly exclaimed, pointing towards an elderly man. 0

I quickly turned to see that the old man had been cornered by a figure in black, with multiple injuries and blood staining his clothes. 0

"Oh no!" My heart sank; I knew we couldn't wait any longer. 0

"Lingxi, what are you going to do?" Bai Wei grabbed my hand, asking urgently. 0

I took a deep breath and said firmly, "I have to help him!" 0

Without waiting for Bai Wei's objections, I summoned the last bit of spiritual energy within me and rushed toward the direction of the old man and the figure in black. 0

Meanwhile, Du Ming was in a dark cave surrounded by stone walls covered in ancient writings and patterns that exuded a mysterious aura. Using the faint light, he carefully examined these inscriptions and patterns, filled with confusion and shock. 0

"These writings... seem to be ancient cultivation secrets..." Du Ming murmured to himself. His family had been in business for generations and had never been involved in cultivation; why would they be connected to a cultivation sect? 0

At that moment, he noticed a pattern on the wall depicting a man dressed in luxurious clothing wielding a long sword while battling a fierce beast. The man's appearance bore some resemblance to Du Ming, especially the heroic spirit between his brows. 0

"Could this person... be my ancestor?" A thought stirred within Du Ming as he scrutinized the image. Suddenly he spotted another figure standing behind the man—a person dressed in black with a mask obscuring their face. From their weapon and stance, it was clear they were adversarial to the man. 0

"Could it be... my ancestors were also cultivators?" A storm of questions surged within Du Ming as he continued to observe the image until he finally found a line of small text in the corner. 0

"The Du Family has guarded sacred artifacts for generations, vanquishing evil and protecting all living beings..." Du Ming read each word slowly, filled with shock and confusion. If his family truly had guarded sacred artifacts and vanquished evil for generations, why had they later abandoned cultivation for business? 0

Just then, he recalled his father's dying words: "Ming'er, remember that our family has been wronged..." 0

"Wronged?" A glimmer of insight flashed in Du Ming's eyes. Could it be that his family abandoned cultivation for business because they were wronged? And who was responsible for this wrongdoing? 0

Filled with questions, Du Ming felt as though he was touching upon a massive secret—one that concerned not only his identity but also his family's fate. 0

"Du Ming, is everything you said true?" I held my phone tightly, hardly believing my ears. On the other end of the line, Du Ming's voice was low and weary: "Lingxi, I've found some secrets about my family; it turns out..." Before he could finish his sentence, the call abruptly disconnected. I felt anxious yet helpless. At that moment, Bai Wei approached me with concern in her eyes: "Lingxi, don't worry. Du Ming is destined to be safe." 0

I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. "Bai Wei, we can't wait any longer. I have to find Du Ming; I have a feeling he's in danger." I looked at Bai Wei with determination in my eyes. "I've made up my mind; I want to face this together with him." Bai Wei seemed about to say something more, but I had already made my decision. 0

I quickly tidied up a bit, said goodbye to Bai Wei, and drove to the cave that Du Ming mentioned. Along the way, I was filled with worry and unease; I didn't know what awaited me, but I would not back down. I was determined to face everything alongside Du Ming. 0

Finally, I arrived at the cave that Du Ming had described. It was pitch black inside, eerie and terrifying. I cautiously stepped in, calling out Du Ming's name loudly, but all I received in response was the hollow echo of my voice. 0

Just when I was feeling anxious, a cold voice suddenly came from behind me: "Oh, isn't this the eldest son of the Du Family and his divine doctor wife? What brings you to our Du Family's secrets?" 0

I turned around abruptly to see a middle-aged man in a black suit standing behind me. His face was sinister, with a smirk at the corner of his mouth, and his eyes were filled with greed and ambition. 0

"Who are you?" I asked warily, sensing an ominous premonition. 0

"Who am I? Heh, I'm the nightmare of your Du Family!" The middle-aged man laughed arrogantly. "I am Du Ming's dear uncle, Du Hai! And your eternal enemy!" 0

Du Hai? My heart sank; could he be the hidden mastermind lurking in the shadows? What did he want? Before I could think further, Du Hai continued, "Du Ming, oh Du Ming, you are so naive. Do you really think you can escape fate's arrangement? Do you think you can change everything? Let me tell you, you're wrong! Everything that is yours will belong to me!" 0

Du Hai's gaze turned vicious as he advanced toward me step by step like a venomous snake eyeing its prey. Fear and anxiety filled my heart, but I knew this was not the time to be afraid. I had to stay calm to find an opportunity to escape. 0

"What do you want?" I forced myself to sound composed as I asked, trying to buy some time. 0

"What do I want? Heh, what I desire is very simple: the entire Du Family!" Du Hai laughed arrogantly. "And you are just my bargaining chip!" 0
