After I escaped from the eerie underground palace with Du Ming, we didn't dare to delay for a moment. We immediately contacted the leaders of various sects and the heads of families to announce the news of the impending resurrection of Demon God Chi You. As soon as the news broke, the entire Cultivation World was thrown into an uproar. No one expected that the Demon God Chi You, who had disappeared for thousands of years, would make a comeback at this time!
“Lingxi, is what you said true? Is that demon really going to be resurrected?” The leader of Qingfeng Sect, an elderly man with an ethereal demeanor, asked incredulously, his tone filled with concern.
“Absolutely true!” I replied firmly. “We saw Chi You's coffin with his seal and prophecy still intact.”
Upon hearing my description, everyone's expression turned grave. Hundreds of years ago, Demon God Chi You wreaked havoc on the world, causing countless beings to suffer. It was only through the combined efforts of the Cultivation World that he was sealed away. Now that the seal was about to break, if Chi You were to return to the world, the consequences would be unimaginable!
“There’s no time to waste; we must act quickly to prevent the demon god from being resurrected!” The leader of Sky Sword Sect, a burly middle-aged man, stepped forward and said. “Lingxi, your medical skills are exceptional; please treat the injured disciples from our fight against the evil cult so they can recover their combat strength as soon as possible!”
I nodded solemnly. “Rest assured, everyone; I will do my utmost!” With that, I began treating the wounded. Du Ming also quickly organized various forces to discuss plans for combating the demon god. Watching the busy scene before me filled my heart with worry, but more than that, it filled me with determination. To protect this land and those we care about, we must unite and give our all!
Du Ming stood in the center of the conference hall, surveying all the sect leaders and elders present. His voice was steady and powerful: “Everyone, Demon God Chi You is about to be resurrected; this is an unprecedented catastrophe, but we cannot sit idly by!” He paused for a moment, his gaze resolute. “I have developed a detailed battle plan based on each sect's unique techniques and disciple strengths.”
As he spoke, he unfolded a large map clearly marking each sect's defensive positions and offensive routes. “Sky Sword Sect will take charge of direct attacks to restrain the demon god's main forces; Qingfeng Sect excels in formations and will set up barriers to prevent demonic energy from spreading; Bai Cao Valley specializes in alchemy and will provide logistical support…”
Du Ming’s thoughts were clear and organized as he assigned tasks to each sect meticulously, prompting nods of agreement from everyone present. Even a few elders who had previously harbored doubts about him had to admire his leadership skills.
“Lingxi, how are you holding up? Can you manage?” Bai Wei approached me with concern. She had been by my side these past few days, helping me care for the injured and gather information without rest.
“I’m fine; you don’t need to worry,” I smiled at her reassuringly. “But you should take care of yourself and not overexert.”
Bai Wei sighed and said, “How can I not worry? This concerns the safety of the entire Cultivation World! By the way, I just received some intelligence about Demon God Chi You from Heavenly Secrets Pavilion; see if it’s useful.”
With that, she handed me a jade slip. I probed my consciousness into it and began examining its contents carefully. The jade slip contained legends and weaknesses regarding Demon God Chi You; although there wasn’t much information, it was crucial for our battle plan. I passed it to Du Ming, who examined it closely before frowning slightly. “It seems this enemy is even more troublesome than we imagined.”
“But we still have a chance,” I grasped his hand and gave him a determined look. “I believe that as long as we work together, we can defeat the demon god and protect peace in the Cultivation World!”
Du Ming held my hand tightly in return, a confident smile playing on his lips. “You’re right; we will win!”
During this time, Du Ming had been busy discussing strategies with various sects to combat the demon god while coordinating resources tirelessly. Meanwhile, I focused on developing pills to counteract demonic energy and healing injured cultivators.
One night while I was busy in the alchemy room, I suddenly heard footsteps outside.
“Lingxi, are you there?” It was my father’s voice.
“Father, what brings you here?” I opened the door to find my father walking in alongside Mr. Du.
“I came to check on you and discuss strategies against the demon god with Du Ming,” my father said as his gaze fell on the alchemy furnace behind me. “How is your pill refining going?”
“I’ve made significant progress; I believe they will be useful soon,” I replied confidently.
“That’s good to hear,” my father nodded approvingly before turning to Du Ming. “Son-in-law, you have quite a heavy burden in this battle against the demon god.”
Du Ming responded respectfully, “Father-in-law, rest assured; I will do everything in my power to protect Cultivation World and live up to your expectations.”
Hearing Du Ming refer to my father as "Father-in-law" warmed my heart. It’s important to note that Mr. Du had previously been strongly opposed to our relationship, and now he has changed his tune; it seems he is quite pleased with Du Ming's performance.
"Good, good!" my father said, patting Du Ming on the shoulder with a serious tone. "You are both good kids, and I believe you can overcome any difficulties!"
Looking at the trust and hope in my father's and Mr. Du's eyes, a wave of warmth surged through me, further solidifying my determination to defeat the demon god.
However, just as we were confidently preparing for the final battle, a piece of news struck us like a bolt from the blue, leaving us completely unprepared…
